Wholesale florist---good or bad reviews?

Kelly, on June 25, 2013 at 12:21 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 24

I was looking at wholesale florists to order from--I saw that globalrose.com seems to have the least amount of bad reviews--some people have said wholeblossoms is good--anyone use any specific vendor and have a good or bad experience? I would be ordering sunflowers(60-70 stems) and then some filler yellow flowers and maybe a blue snapdragon or something to bring my blue in--I am looking for mid Sept...want to keep it under about 220 or so..thanks!

Read the fine print. Wholesalers usually reserve the right to substitute. Another bride on here had problems with the substitutions and the substitutes for the substitutions. I think she ended up going to the grocery store the morning of her wedding.

Are you ok with Silk flowers? I've ordered from www.silkflowerfactory.com and they were great. I only bought chrysanthemums for filler flowers and they worked perfectly.

I ordered from WholeBlossoms and had a great experience. They sent me tracking numbers so I knew exactly where my product was. They called like 10 minutes after the delivery guy dropped them off to make sure everything was okay. I seriously called those people like 20 times to ask stupid questions about how to keep them and how to transport them and they answered every question.

I told her I thought I should change to have them delivered Wednesday for my Saturday wedding so they (peonies) don't die and she suggested to keep it at Tuesday. She was right, if I would have changed they wouldn't have been open. I had a great experience!

How about fiftyflowers....has anyone gone through them?

I am glad Whole Blossoms was good- no ABballerina--I need fresh flowers--but thanks for the thought!

Jenn- did you get advice from Wholeblossoms before you ordered or just ordered --(ie chat on phone or online with any salespeople on best flowers for that time of year-- amount of stems to order--etc?)

    Thanks all!

Kelly- I talked to FiftyFlowers and WholeBlossoms on the phone before I ordered. I've heard/read horror stories so I wanted all the facts before I decided to do this. They were both super helpful. I was working with the lady helping me do my flowers about specific colors and WholeBlossoms had the color that was closest to what we were looking for so that's why I went with them.

Seriously, call them and ask away! They answered all my dumb questions! Smiley smile

Are you going to put them together yourself, or do you want them already assembled? I'm unsure of what I'm going to do. If I decide to DIY I will be ordering the stems from Sam's Club. If I decide to buy them already assembled, I'll probably use bunchesdirect.com

I will put them together myself(i have worked with a florist part time a number of yrs ago so have no issues with that part of it). I am doing very rustic with wildflowers and sunflowers and a collection of mis matched bottles and only one bouquet for me--so I think it will be fairly easy IF they arrive in good shape! need to have them ship to the venue as well since is destination in the Mtns...

My mother-in-law offered to pay for our reception flowers. She's pretty crafty and we thought we'd be able to find a whole sale flower place online. She found Global Rose, and thankfully we decided we'd do a trial run to see how things turned out. We ordered them and choose a Saturday delivery date (which costs extra!), she drove 2 and a half hours to my house where the flowers were to be delivered by 10 am. She got an email at 11 am from Global Rose stating the flowers "missed their flight" and we wouldn't be receiving them until Tuesday of the following week.

When we received them they were all wilted (obviously), smashed and some even had mold on them! She was able to get her money back, but to say we were VERY disappointed would be a HUGE understatement! I'm just thankful we decided on a trial run. Since we didn't have the flowers to play around with, we decided to run to our local BJ's Warehouse to see their flowers, and ended up stopping at Wegman's to find they have a (cont.)

(cont.) full service floral department. We found flowers we loved, and ordered from them for about the same price as ordering through Global Rose!

I ordered my centerpiece flowers from Sam's. They were beautiful and arrived as expected. I had them delivered on the Thursday before the wedding and everything was perfect. I ordered 60 hydrangea stems for less than $140.00.

I've ordered from Fifty Flowers before without a problem! I was planning on using them again to get my hydrangeas for my wedding. Although, those ones Mrs. Hawkins posted look great - so I may now look into other places too.

@ Future Mrs.Lopez-I ordered regular, and they were huge blossoms! We only had to use 2 per square vase.

@ Kelly, they also have blue hydrangeas if interested.

I did a trial run from Global Rose the week of Mother's day. I had them delivered on Thursday. The arrived first thing in the morning. I followed the directions and the roses, all 100 of them, opened up beautifully by Saturday. Here is the link to my post about them https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/kwr-got-my-trial-flowers-in-update-with-the-bouquets/034e3608bc3cb414.html

Beautiful..thanks for all the feedback. It seems to me every wholesaler had mostly good reviews and one or two bad...so possibly luck of the draw. I will call the three main I was pondering and pick based off price and availability. Then its all up to the flower gods!
