Wholesale Wedding Flowers...DO or DON'T??? HELP!

Gina, on February 8, 2011 at 9:30 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

My fiance and I are debating on buying wholesale flowers in bulk and having an Aunt with experience put the arrangements/bouquets together for us. Has anyone bought their wedding flowers from a wholesaler? Do you recommend it? We are trying to save money by doing it this way as we don't have a big budget for flowers. Any advice or vendor referrals you've used will be greatly appreciated!! THANKS!!

My friend did this at her wedding this past October. She highly recommends it. She ordered roses and cala lillies in bulk from Sam's club and then had someone with experience arrange them. She said one of the boxes of flowers was questionable, but she called and they overnighted a new box of flowers. Her centerpieces and bouquets all looked amazing. I ended up catching the toss bouquet and it was so gorgeous! I am thinking about doing something similar for our wedding as well. Hope that helps.

My sister did this, and I plan on doing it too. She went through a florist who gave her the flowers at cost. The florist gave her a lesson on how to arrange and just charged her for an hour or so.

If you have someone with experience to arrange them, definitely do it! So much of the cost at a florist is supplies and labor, not even flowers.

I did the flowers for my aunts wedding, and do this for all of my friends and family who get married (makes a great wedding gift Smiley winking)

below is the bouquet from my aunts wedding, done with wholesale flowers. Ans a bouquet I did for a bridal expo, also all bought wholesale. (a florist would charge you $100 give or take for either, the actual cost to me was probably $30-40 per bouquet)

Be sure to check in with your Aunt as to any supplies she will need, such as wire, flower tape, oasis foam, pins etc. so you can purchase them and ensure ease for both you and her.

I am going to be using wholesale flowers. You can find lots of help online in making your own arrangements or if you know someone who is good at it then you can ask them for help if you need it. If you considering using flowers for more than the bouquets such as centerpieces then this will save you even more money. Do you have Costco, Sams Club or BJs card or know someone who does? I just recently researched some of their prices and this is what I have found:

    COSTCO PRICES
Combo box - 75 roses and 30 callas for $99.99
    100 White roses for $75
100 stems of baby breath for $70

    SAMS PRICES
    100 Red/White combo roses for $74
    200 Red roses for $153

I found BJs to be more expensive than Costco and Sams so I kinda just moved away from that place, lol. These are just examples, they have a lot more flower options to choose from even already made. I am looking into roses so thats why I had that, but those are current website prices. Hope this helps!!

I haven't ordered flowers wholesale in the past, but we plan on ordering our flowers in bulk from Costco. They're the best value that I've found for Vancouver, and the quality is great.

My friend has used Sams..I may do this but will def have a pro put them together, I plan on calling around to places first to see what they charge per hour for labor and the smaller supplies to see if it's worth it.
