Why are people so stupid?

I sent out invites last week, and I have to say.. People just must be idiots! I specifically remember writing "and guest" on one of my single friend's invite, and I got a text today that said "Can I bring a date?" ..Uh, that's what "and guest" means. I sent out invites last week, and I have to say.. People just must be idiots! I specifically remember writing "and guest" on one of my single friend's invite, and I got a text today that said "Can I bring a date?" ..Uh, that's what "and guest" means. Then, I sent one to family friends whose daughter is away at college.. I sent a completely separate invite to the girl, because I knew she'd be glad she got her own. Well I got the RSVP back today from the parents, and they added her name on there and RSVP'd as 3. Obviously I realize its just because they wanted to make sure I counted the daughter in the head count, but the invite didn't have her name on it! It had theirs, she got her own!

Oh, and then I got a facebook message today.. I invited this woman and her daughter, the father died a few years ago and its just the two of them. The daughter is 10.. And the mom sent me a message asking me if her daughter could bring a friend. Really?

OMG!! Yes, I too have the fear that neices and nephews will start popping up with others to bring. Luckily they are mostly on his side and I will have him say "no" to them! LOL I like the idea of "_ reserved in your honor". That should limit the suprises

I am so not looking forward to this nightmare! I'm sorry people are so silly you would think that they should know the etiquette if they"ve been married...

Ugh welcome to my world. Instead of asking if they can bring a date, my two cousins decided to just put them on the RSVP. I'm kind of kicking myself for not doing the ___seats have been reserved line on my RSVP cards. Oh well.

Meanwhile, to address a lot of guest RSVP and wedding questions, today I worked on a nice little FAQ section our website. Things it includes: What happens if I don't RSVP, Why wasn't I given the option to bring a date, and why aren't kids allowed at the reception. Hopefully people will actually look at it, lol.

I just sent my invites out today and am not looking forward to the inevitable questions and drama. I added a few plus ones for people that I knew were in long time relationships or living with their significant others. FH's cousin who is 17 had the courtesy to ask if she could bring her bf, I said ok due to the fact that they have been together for over a year and that even at 17 she had the manners to ask way ahead of time. Kids didn't matter since we don't have to pay for them if they are under 7, which most are and the ones who aren't will only be half price.

I wrote names on the rsvp cards and then by the attending line it said __ of __ are attending and I wrote on the second line the number of people invited. Hopefully that will curb anyone from rsvping for more.

Everytime I think about this RSVP think I get really upset....I was only planning on inviting about 6 people from church well.....come to find out I need to add an additional "25" people because what am I going to do when the entire church shows up......yes this is what my choir director told me last Friday.....I go to a very small church where everybody knows each other.....I am not close to these people.....and I will be highly pissed if I see all this people show up whom I did not invite

I am going to kindly remind my Pastor to announce that we are only having a small family gathering.....not a hugh wedding....

Sorry about taking over your thread but I just need to vent........
