So I ordered my wedding gown today yayay!! and I was going to also order a veil from Alfred Angelo as well, but the one I want is $250 and yes, there's a discount but it won't be much less than that..has anyone already ordered their veil from an online store/source instead of going with one that...

So I ordered my wedding gown today Smiley smile yayay!! and I was going to also order a veil from Alfred Angelo as well, but the one I want is $250 and yes, there's a discount but it won't be much less than that..has anyone already ordered their veil from an online store/source instead of going with one that was available by the same manufacturer..the dress is ivory and I know ivory can be in different shades, but is anyone really going to notice? Also, if you have ordered online, where did you order it/how does it look/ did it ultimately match your dress?

I was lucky enough to get $100 store credit to use towards anything in the bridal boutique for the exception towards my dress. I used this credit towards my veil. The veil was originally $126 and I also received 25% off because it was an in stock item. If not for the credit and the discount, I personally wouldn't have paid this much for a veil.

Thanks for all the feedback!! My mom offered to pay for the veil and headpiece since I am paying for my dress but they are literally paying for everything..it's not that I don't have $250 to spend on it, it's just such a rip off. I can't even imagine having them spend that kind of money on something like that..two of the bridesmaid dresses cost that amt!

You can go to a wedding dressmaker and have one made inexpensively. I have had a few customers make their own from veil kits that are sold in fabric store and craft store wedding departments. One of my customers found a kit in the craft section of Walmart.

These kits come with a one or 2 layer veil. They edged with various trims. Usually it's gathered at the top edge so that you can sew it or glue it to a comb.

I agree with LauraK and Artisticveil. You are paying for the quality of fabric and quality of the construction. Cheap veils are mainly mass produced in China using cheap labour. Hundreds of veils are cut in one go by machine using a stiffer polyester tulle. They use glue to attach pearls and crystals.

I pride myself in making bespoke pure silk tulle wedding veils. Each veil is individually cut and handmade to order from the sheerest silk tulle. No 2 veils are the same. Great care is taken and the process is very time consuming. I can take an hour to press and pack a veil. I use beautiful french lace trims, silk ribbon and Swarovski pearls and crystals which are hand stitched with invisible thread. My veils are part of the outfit not 'just a veil'. They become a work of art and a family heirloom. Despite all this I feel my prices, though not cheap, are comparable with top end polyester veils.

Look on E-Bay. I tried on one at David's Bridal that was 140.00. I got the same one on E-Bay for 14.99. Same quality and everything. They are so expensive because it is something you have to have, and are willing to pay alot for if you have to.

I found mine on ebay. It was about $15 for a 2 tier veil. When I got it was beautiful. the ivory veil matched the ivory dress perfectly.

I too had so much trouble finding an inexpensive veil, but I went to one of those bridal shows and they had all the different vendors there and as luck would have it I won a veil from one of the bridal shops so when I find my dress all I have to do is go there and find the veil of my choice.

I got my veil today at a Bridal show. I found one I LOVE by looking at the girls that model the wedding dresses. I then asked the boutique about it and they dold it to me.

I know veils are expensive, but it is an expense you may want to consider seriously. It is the object that frames your face for many pictures. You can take your chances ordering offline, but when it comes down to it you really want something of high quality that won't reflect as cheap or too shiny in pictures. You also want to talk to a bridal professional about getting a veil that really matches the material and style in your dress. Unfortunately a veil is worth the money.

Veils come in so many different styles and selections. In my store we have inexpensive veils for as little as 59.00, and the most expensive one is 179.00. However, those veils are trimmed in crystal and swarovski, and completely edged all the way around on a double layer of finger tip tulle. There is alot of workmanship involved in edging the veils. Not to mention the quality of the beads ( plastic versus crystal)/ I have seen many veils purchased on line that were as pictured, and I have seen some veils where the brides were very dissapointed. I am happy that all of you had such a good experience. And if you don't see what you want, always ask a salesperson as we have so many wholesalers at our fingertips and can find exactly what you want at your price.Happy Wedding to all of you!

I actually found a cathedral veil for a really reasonable price on Etsy. Handmade too!

    $27

I went on ebay too but a lot of them are from out of the country and they would take a long time to get here.. and unsure of the quality

So I'm here because my veil was $599 and now I see all the cheaper ones online and it's driving me crazy wondering what the difference could be, it's driving me crazy. Can anyone explain??? @silkveil could you explain. Does that seem a normal price?
