Have you ever heard the phrase "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free"?

It refers to giving too much in a relationship too fast or as some would call it giving "marriage benefits" before you're actually married. These benefits may include sex, cooking, cleaning, and sometimes even children.

The argument is why would someone ever marry you if you are already giving them everything they would get if they were married to you?

What are your thoughts on this topic? Are there any "benefits" you reserved until marriage? Why or why not?

He was never going to make that commitment to you if he is willing to leave so easily for another woman.

I also thinks its an abhorrent, sexist phrase, and it does not refer to any other benefit besides sex. Nor does it show respect to a couple who remain abstinent until marriage. The phrase means why would a man get married if the women is willing to have sex with him without marriage. It reinforces ideas about marriage being a trap for men, that a man does not benefit from marriage except by having sex, and a woman owes her husband sex purely because he married her. There are lots of legal and emotional benefits to marriage for both parties. The phrase denigrates those benefits and reduces marriage to a purely sexual transaction, which I don't think it is.
