Why did you pick the date?

Amy, on September 26, 2019 at 9:19 AM Posted in Planning 2 159
What is the reasoning for your actual wedding date?

We chose May 2, 2020. We have multiple factors involved. The 2nd came from our original anniversary of December 2nd. We are getting married outside in Wisconsin so we couldn't keep it in December. The month was all driven by work. We have very big decisions to make in July so we have to have all paperwork filed before then. 2020 was between deployments for one or both of us.

Tell your story!

We wanted a fall wedding and knew it needed to be a Saturday. 11/23 was the only fall Saturday our venue had open so we went with it!

We will be legally married 10/10/19. October 10 is the anniversary of our first kiss. We were friends for a long time before she kissed me and that moment changed our lives in so many ways. I originally thought we would wait for 10/10/20 but she didn't want to wait a year, and really neither do I. This way our first wedding anniversary will be 10/10/20.

We're getting married on Leap Day next year! I originally wanted to get married this year in the fall since it's my favorite season, but when I saw Leap Day was on a Saturday next year, I thought it'd be a unique day to get married! FH agreed, and we decided to push the wedding til then. We're planning to go on a big vacation every time we have a "real" anniversary! The other years, we'll celebrate on 2/28.

I feel like we chose April 4th because it won't be too hot or too cold. We either wanted a fall or early spring!! We were going to be flexible with the date regardless. The 4th doesn't really have major significance, we just were content with the date!

Friday in October was first priority

Then we chose from options of those dates...

And 10.04.19 is pretty easy to remember (10-4 good buddy)

I just knew I wanted a spring wedding. I would've done fall also, but I didn't want to wait over a year. March is a crazy busy month in our family (birthdays left and right), April weekends that were available at our venue would have had to been on my sisters wedding anniversary or my FSIL's birthday, neither were an option. So we went with the first Sunday in May (Saturday was booked, but we've saved hundreds!), to stay a spring wedding before it gets too hot. May 3, 2020!

We chose 10-10-2020. We wanted that date before we were even engaged. It is such a cool date and easy to remember. My FH turns 40 Sox days prior so I always say 10+10=20 20+20=40
I also knew I wanted fall because we have so much in our family going on from April to August. All 7 of my parents grandchildren birthdays are between June and August. It just all was in our favor.

We actually eloped and got married at the courthouse with our parents there on 11/9/18, so we decided to save and have our wedding on the same date the year following (so its the same date for our anniversary). So we will be getting married in about 43 days, 11/9/19 Smiley heart

We started dating April 5 2016, got engaged April 23 2018, and are getting married April 4 2020. I orginally wanted to get married this fall but we decided to push it out a few more months. Once I was done pouting I got tho thinking that keeping it in April would be cute and easy to remember for the most part. Everything has been 2 years apart and I think it's just a fun thing to keep up with. My FH also liked the idea so we just ran with April 4th.

April 4th is our wedding date too!! The hotbcold thing was another thing we tried to work out. My mom has major breathing problems and too hot or to cold causes issues. We are getting married in Gatlinburg so not quite sure how the weather will be.

We originally wanted October 31st for our halloween wedding, but our family has a lot of kids to we figured not a lot would show to take their kids trick or treating. So then we decided on the 26th, but the venue we liked didnt have it available. We ended up with the 17th, and it turns our that's my grandmom and poppops anniversary! So I think it worked out for the best

My FH picked 10/10/2020. He said that he wanted our date to sound cool. His words were "because 10 + 10=20".

We choose 08.22.2021 I choose that date because I wanted a LONG engagement. The 2nd reason was to give us time to pay for everything since this will be out of our own pocket. Also my son's birthday is in March / my birthday is in May/ FH husband birthday is in June. I wanted us to get married after all our birthdays. We live in Arizona and we are flying back home to get married (Chicago). Chicago weather in march is freezing cold / May & June is technically what I call the "Raining Season" lol. Also I wanted to be married before our mother's birthday's as well.... my mother's birthday is Aug 26th n his mother's birthday is Sept. 2nd.

We knew we wanted to get married in 2019, but it needed to be later in the year since 1) FH planned to propose in February and 2) we wanted a full Catholic mass, and I was finishing up RCIA. We had decided any time between August and November would work, because we wanted to avoid any winter weather (I've been to two weddings in December/January that had ice storms or snowstorms the weekend of the wedding!). I was originally trying for an October wedding, but quickly found out that October is *very* popular in the Midwest. We shifted to November 2nd, and everything fell into place. Without realizing it, I picked the inverse of our dating anniversary (February 11th). Smiley smile

We chose 11-11-2020 for several reasons. First, it is the anniversary of our first date. We liked the idea of keeping our anniversary the same, that way we didn’t have to celebrate two separate days a year, or stop celebrating our original anniversary. Secondly, I am superstitious. 11-11 is a notoriously lucky number, and FH and I text each other daily as a reminder to make a wish at 11:11. We both even have matching 11’s tattoos. Repeating numbers are also lucky, so it was pure luck that the year we are getting married is 2020. So our wedding date will be all repeating numbers! Third, there was absolutely no question that we were going to have a fall wedding. It is my most favorite time of the year! And, as luck would have it, it falls on a Wednesday next year (which is totally fine, because we are having a destination wedding anyway) So, our venue and hotel are significantly cheaper now!
