Why do event halls have ugly carpet?

Brandi, on March 8, 2019 at 1:47 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 20
WHY DOES EVERY EVENT ROOM HAVE UGLY CARPET?! Is it just me or do you always notice how ugly the carpet is in a venue? It’s always some weird swirly pattern and 8 times out of 10 includes the color orange. Like why? Pick a neutral gray or beige dammit! Okay rant over!

    Right!!!
This is our event space carpet.
I wish they would all just use like black chairs and a plain carpet.

Everything else about your venue is gorgeous! I love the arch windows/mirrors and chandeliers! Maybe you can rent chair covers! I feel like that’ll help a lot!

We hate chair covers more than the chairs! they're included in our package but yeah....lol the red actually goes with our scheme but the gold part not so much.

Everyone has different priorities... but this is why venue was more important to me. More important than attire or decor. Luckily, the venue that I love gives us everything we want. Annoying carpet or not you'll have a wonderful, beautiful day!

Lol you're not wrong. BUT! I will say, none of your guests will be paying attention to the carpet unless your room is entirely too big for your reception Smiley smile

Between dinner tables, dance floors, decorations and (usually) lower-than-full lighting, the carpet won't be noticeable. Smiley smile

This is true! I just don’t understand the concept! They know people are going to come in with tons of different color schemes and themes, why not choose something a little more neutral? But you’re right that people won’t notice or remember what the carpet looks like!

I have noticed in some of the newly renovated ones in my area they are finally starting to understand the concept of "neutral." Obviously you don't just want to throw some plain old house carpet into a high traffic event space, but at least the patterns seem to be a little less obnoxious and the colors a little bit more neutral! Here's hoping the trend continues lol

This was a big reason I looked at only legit wedding venues. I wanted to do a reception hall like hotels have, but they are so ugly, especially with the chairs mixed in!

Haha so true 😂 I cannot handle ugly carpets. I’ve been told by an interior designer that they use carpets like these because busy carpet patterns hide stains better & hence need to be cleaned less often (gross). We looked only at venues with no carpets, usually with polished wood floors (white or neutral), poured concrete floors, or something neutral like that (and clean lol).

I'm with you on that. It usually looks dated or from "The Shining" lol

Totally agree! They really need a better interior designer (I would know, I am one!)

Although I agree that this stinks I actually know that it is intentional. These colors and patterns hide stains. As a lot of people know some stains (wine red sauce etc.) just do not come out. Rather than replace the carpet every time one of these stains happens, or have people complain and say the place is dirty, they install funky carpet that really hides them.

Ah yes, a like minded bride! My fiance just didn't understand why I was always going on about the carpets and/or drapes of every venue we have toured.

YES. This was the first thing I either liked/dislike about the venues we looked at. My mom laughs about it but they carpets are so ugly! Luckily we were able to find a venue with pretty neutral carpet.

It hides stains. Plus it's cheap. Our venue has wood flooring and we are so happy about it.
