Why do people take so long to Rsvp?

My invitations went out two weeks ago and the RSVP deadline is next week. 2/3 of the people invited haven’t responded. I’ve always responded immediately to wedding invitations, so I wasn’t expecting this many people not to - should I expect them all just to do it at the last minute, or should I prepare to have to call them all?

    Unfortunately, I'd prepare to call all of the stragglers. My parents were recently invited to a wedding and they waited until the last minute to send in their RSVP. I scolded them a bit, but they explained they weren't sure if they'd be able to go or not. Not excusing your stragglers, but most people don't understand how vital those RSVPs are to us brides!
