Why does ii take your Guest so long to rsvp

Shameeka, on June 11, 2019 at 12:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 15
Hello ladies so I am getting married August 23, 2019 and we just recently sent out our final invitation .I am noticing that it is taking people forever to go on the website and RSVP .We have invited 80 people and we are hoping only 50 show however we’ve received maybe 14 RSVP back and we have to submit our final count in the next 30 days. We sent our save the dates out 4 months ago, surely people should know by now if they will be able to attend..This is so frustrating .

Usually I've seen people wait near the end. could be because they want to figure out their schedules but also some won't RSVP at all either. Rsvp'ing can be so annoying when it comes to guests because they don't take it as seriously as we would like.

I think people either RSVP right away or wait until the last minute.

I agree with PP - people rsvp immediately or late. We sent out invites on 05/05, with a reply date of 07/06 for the wedding on 08/03. We’ve gotten roughly half of the responses back. I expect more to come in the last week or so, then I’m bugging people.

I can tell you that there’s no way we’d be able to rsvp for your wedding this far out. Since your wedding is a Friday, FH would have to take a day out of work but if he’s only taking one day it doesn’t get approved until 30 days out.

    Super long!

We mailed our invitations on May 2nd and out of 191 invited, we've received back rsvps from 77 and it's been majority my guests. I'm still waiting on rsvps from 22 households and my fiance is waiting for a lot more.

For the most part, everyone received their invitation. We've only had 2 come back due to an incorrect address. They're all excited, but I just hope they know to RSVP and not just tell us, "You know we're coming". No, I don't know until I receive your RSVP back lol.

    Good luck!

Date twin!!!! We sent STDs in Jan and invites went out the first week of May, I’d placed the RSVP deadline as June 1 for our destination wedding hoping to confirm my vendors as requested by the end of June. Our RSVP is online too.. so even after sending out an email reminder with the link so all the had to do was click and input their yes or no and names... Of my 30 guest we’re finally seeing some replies and have 10 of 28 responded all of whom are from his side because he texted them but none of my peeps are getting back to me 🤣 (we expected everyone to come based on previous convos with them but now not so sure)! So I give up and assume everyone is coming.

People are lazy! Most won't do it until the day of if not after. You might have to start calling people.

If I have to travel more than a couple of hours, get a hotel room, or take off work, I usually wait until the last minute to RSVP. Just because things can come up and I want to give an accurate answer. If none of those things are issues, then I really try to RSVP as soon as possible. But things like that can definitely make a difference. And especially if you have a weekday wedding.

Jennifer but that’s the purpose of the save the date in addition it’s no different from planning in advance for a vacation.

We sent out our invites 6 weeks before our RSVP date and we had sent out save the dates 10 months before the wedding. We sent out invites to 225 people. Yesterday was our RSVP date, we still hadn't heard from 61 people. I started bugging people today, now I'm just waiting on 33 people. We addressed & stamped envelopes AND gave guests an online RVSP option. Some people just don't feel the need to RSVP!

Congrats Samantha. I think my stress is elevating as the date grows near. I had my first melt down yesterday . So bizarre, I had a guest to log on to my wedding site but she did not rsvp. Ahmmmm , I thought that was weird. Why take the time to read the invitation to access the website but still not rsvp..

We don't have a B list, but we needed a final count 1 month out for vendors.

Save the dates help if I need to take more than one day off work, or book plane tickets. The middle ground where it's just regular (for me, I travel 3-6 hours away 1-3 weekends out of the month) travel, I'm not going to make that decision for someone's wedding more than 6 weeks in advance, unless they're family or very close friends. I'm basing this on a wedding I went to two weeks ago. They sent STDs, and they sent invites out 8 weeks in advance. It was great. I RSVP'd before the deadline, but not right when I got the invite. The wedding was 7 hours away, and I needed to plan my dog's spaying around the same time. Things were really up in the air because of the travel and puppy, and it was a push to make the commitment and keep it. I think it's rude if people don't RSVP by the date requested, but I don't think it's rude at all to wait until close to that date, especially if you're just not sure.
