Why have a wedding hashtag?

futuremrs, on May 22, 2018 at 4:40 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

I was trying to come up with a wedding a hashtag but was having a hard time with my FHs last name. Then I was thinking back to the weddings I have been to and realized wedding hashtags are nice but don't really work. If you want a wedding hashtag so you can see the pictures your guests take it only works if their account is public. And I have also found many guests don't even realize there is a wedding hashtag. Has anyone else had any trouble with a wedding hashtag? I think I'm gonna ditch it all together and get a photo sharing app and let the guests know about the app on the weekend itinerary they will get with their welcome bags.

I agree with the public/private account thing! We aren't having one. Everyone wedding I've been to I just texted or uploaded to FB the pictures to the bride and groom so they had them. I have been to one wedding that used an app, but not a lot of people went through the work of doing it.

This is something that is completely your preference. Most people have one to link photos via social media; however, FH and I both don't have any social media (I have FB for work because I am the digital specialist), so we are considering not having one either.

We had one because I figured it would be nice to look back on old posts that used the hashtag in case people DID choose to tag photos and as a unifying "word" for wedding websites/email/forums. Also I have a hard time missing an opportunity for a pun.

Granted, not many people used my photo uploader OR hashtag, but it's not that big of a deal.

I've liked having mine, and all of my friends are big into social media so I'm sure it'll come in handy for the actual wedding. But, it's really not a big deal either way. I am pretty good with generating hash tags, though, so if you want to put the new name here in a reply I'll see what I can come up with! Smiley smile

Personally, I wouldn't download a new app just for someone's wedding. And I mostly use hashtags when I'm being sarcastic/funny. But we'll have one, just in case someone wants to use it. But it will probably be something more utilitarian than clever.

I’m looking into the Veri app too! Have you used it before?
