Why is the Chicken Dance such a faux pas at weddings now?

In all seriousness I cannot wait to have the chicken dance played at my wedding! I just attended my cousin's wedding in July. My Dad requested the chicken dance because he knew that it would get my 85 year old Grandmother up and dancing. Sure enough my Grandma got up and wiggled her butt!

I also want to have the other cheesy line dance songs: Cupid Shuffle, Cha Cha slide, Electric Slide and a Conga Line!

I am curious to hear other people's opinions on why they don't want these songs played at their weddings. I would also like to hear why people want them. For me it is all about seeing my friends and family out on the dance floor whooping it up and having a good time.

    I hate most of the cheesy songs, but I went to UW-Madison and that song was played during/after every home football game and everyone danced in the stands. Definitely having it at my wedding.
