Why would anyone trash their dress?

Just a random thought... I just don't quite understand why?

@Andrea: I started training (with the FH) January 2010 6 days a week for the June Olympic distance Triathlon for South Maui but I found out I was pregnant the last week of March. They took me off the roster but I still am doing the fundraising for them. Also, the FH is flying me out to Maui to support the team and maybe do some photography as well. Next year (if the baby situation permits it), I want to do it again. It's really something else because it showed me what a group of complete strangers, as a team, can accomplish.

@Miya- The night before my marathon, there was a pasta dinner and there were so many people there to welcome the participants- like we were heroes or something. It was an amazing sight and definitely a tear jerker. I think everyone needs to experience something like that. Wonderful way to give back to somebody else, not to mention an amazing acomplishment- running a (1/2) marathon. So cool, that you are able to do that as your job. Smiley smile

Given my age, (hopefully) wisdom!! now.. I certainly wouldn't trash the dress I wore on my recent remarriage! However.. can't say the same for my original wedding dress from 1977! Acting foolishly, and in anger... I did literally "trash" the dress, as in.. in to the dumpster it went!! I have adult sons, no daughters or I would have offered it to them first!!

Most of the Pro photography community now calls them Freedom Sessions. It's basically a session where you get awesome photos of you in your dress that you were afraid to get the day of the wedding because you didn't want to get it dirty. You're "free" to do whatever. Some brides do get a 2nd dress. Others do a fun session where anything they do can be handled with simple dry cleaning/preservation. Others go really extreme and literally do trash the dress. I'm going to fit a happy medium where I'm not going to be afraid to get my dress dirty, and anything that does happen to it can be cleaned right out. I had thought of getting a 2nd dress, but I really have no emotional attachment to my dress and I didn't pay a lot for it so I have no qualms.

For anyone saying some women can't afford a nice dress and you're wasteful if you trash yours because they could buy it if you donated it....It's called ebay. I bought my designer gown there for $56 (and that includes the shipping).
