Why’d you choose your venue

Clarissa, on June 24, 2021 at 11:23 AM Posted in Planning 1 53
Since the world is starting to open back up and more people are getting engaged I thought it would be nice to know why people choose their venues.
For me specifically I choose my venue based off of sentimental value. My grandma who raised me watched me graduate from this venue years ago. I wanted to honor her memory by getting married at a place where we shared a special moment together.

I love the story behind why you chose your venue!

We chose our venue because it included a lot of things that we would have to rent at pretty much any other venue in our area/state (Tables, chairs, table linens, real china, flatware, drinkware, tons of decorations in storage). This alone helped us save a ton of money. The owner gave us a $1k discount since our wedding's technically in off-peak season (January). There's also a gorgeous open air chapel that we'll have our ceremony at, and no other venue in our state has that that I've been able to find, so we liked the uniqueness of it!

Not only is it beautiful and new (opened last Summer), but it included so much more than our other choices that we couldn't pass it up! Come to find out, the owner is actually good friends with one of my FMIL's friends! So that was pretty neat to find out!

I didn't want a ballroom or a real formal place, so we chose to get married at a "barn" on an apple orchard. They tables, chairs, linens so we don't have to rent. They also do food in house and provide dessert as well - so don't have to find a caterer or bakery. Only things I have to worry about are photographer, hair/makeup, transportation, florist and DJ. I want a stress free, laid back wedding and the event coordinator definitely makes things super stress free. They also have a fire pit and lawn games and weren't super pricy. Its also in the middle of nowhere basically so don't have to worry about random people wandering in

We wanted a sort of blank, white, open venue that we could decorate how we liked. Unfortunately, a lot of the places we visited already had their own wallpaper, carpets, etc. which were quite ugly and unappealing. Many were also too small -- they said they held 175 or 200 guests, but when we actually went in the space, it seemed so cramped. We even looked at a place that didn't have a kitchen, which is really important since we have a larger guest list. When we walked into our chosen venue, we immediately fell in love. It was so beautiful and different than the others, with blank white walls and wood floors, and definitely spacious enough. We booked in 2019 but they've been pretty responsive and reasonable with helping us delay because of COVID. We haven't regretted our choice once.

Thanks. An open air chapel that’s awesome. I wish we could have one. We’re just going to use an arch. And it must have been meant to be with the friend connection.

I looked into a barn I thought it was so different and a unique venue. Will you be able to take pictures under the apple tree? I bet that would look so pretty.

I don't think they'd look real nice since I'm getting married after apple season - but unsure!

That’s great that you found something like that. It’s very rare these days. Like you said most places have carpet and wallpaper already. I didn’t want that either. The place I choose it’s beautiful on its own though. The chandeliers are selling point because they’re so gorgeous.

I love the story of how you chose your venue; what a lovely way to honor your grandmother.
We are both Arizona natives and love our state, so it was important to us that our venue was distinctly Arizona. About half of our guests are coming from out of state so I like that they'll also get a taste of the desert.

Our venue is all inclusive so the price was a good fit. It also had the look we wanted for our theme. An added bonus is that it is located close to where I grew up so it feels like home.

Out of all the places we visited, it was the only place my fiance REALLY liked and would not stop talking about (all the others he said were "fine" or "if you like it, that's fine with me"). It's also in an area we both have connections, which makes it nice. We've been trying to incorporate pieces of our relationship when we can -- our engagement photos were taken near where we met, our rehearsal dinner is at a bar where he had a surprise party waiting for me right after we got engaged, our tables are going to be named after theatre shows we were involved in (with the program/pictures on the tables), etc. He hasn't been super involved in most of the planning process (I knew he wouldn't want to be for certain things), so the fact that he flat out said he was blown away by the venue, I knew we were set.

We chose our venue based on location / price. It’s right by the river that flows into the gulf. We can bring our own food and alcohol (very important) and it gives the guest that Florida feel without being overpriced. The down side is because it’s not a typical wedding venue, we ended up renting most of the decor.

    It was logistically the best.

i didn't need to decorate it because of it's chandeliers. it had the best amount of parking. and it was the cheaper price amongst everything around us. also proximity wise it was close to the ceremony venue.

the nice sentimental thing about our venue was we actually went on our third date there haha so it was a part of our love story

My venue has amazing chandeliers as well. The photo area has the best one for pictures. That’s a nice sentimental aspect.
