Has anyone not had getting ready photos--and did you regret not getting them? Or did you get them but would have been okay with skipping? Getting ready photos are my lowest priority. I don't want photos of hair & makeup being done, & I don't love our getting ready location (one small room in...

Getting ready photos are my lowest priority. I don't want photos of hair & makeup being done, & I don't love our getting ready location (one small room in a not-super-nice hotel). But now it's time to make the final call on the photographer's start time, & I worry I will regret not at least having detail shots & photos of putting on my dress.

Our photography package is 8 hours, which will cover first look & portraits, our hour-long ceremony, the start of the reception, & the travel between these locations. Getting ready is a third location, and will bump us up to 9 hours. This isn't an affordability issue, but a "will I be grumpy I paid (quite a bit) more for photos I'm not even sure I want" issue.

To further complicate things, we have two videographers who are "all day" (up to 12 hours) so they *will* be at the getting ready since we're already paying for it. But I care less about video, so it feels weird to have them but not the photographer...help!

I think this will depend on who you're getting ready with, I got ready with my mom and sister (hair and makeup done together) however, my aunt, two female cousins and one male cousin were also there as they flew in to be with us and I had more than enough room for them. I have pictures of us laughing and getting ready, memories that I'll always have.

Yes, these memories do live in my head but I have beautiful pictures that I've printed for my family in remembrance of that day and how much fun we had just getting ready.

The photographer arrived maybe 2 hours before the wedding and took photos of the ceremony and reception spaces and the last hour came in and took pictures of us. My photographer and I went to high school together and he's a very talented and professional photographer so it was much easier to act natural in such a causal environment. These photos are some of my favorite because they are so personal to me and my family. My hubby had something similar with his family and together we have such an amazing memory of getting ready with our families who traveled from far to be with us.

I did have getting ready photos (just a few, as we had scheduled the photographer to arrive after the time we were already mostly done with hair and makeup) but I wouldn't have missed them if we didn't have them. the more special photos to me are the ones of my mom buttoning up my dress, etc.! we got so many other amazing photos throughout the day (plus the fact that my friends and I took a bunch of candid phone pics while getting ready) that the getting ready photos don't even really matter to me!

I’m just going to have MOH and her sister just take a couple of photos of me getting dress zipped up by MOH and us all together. I am having the photographer for church and reception only.
