Will you be my bridesmaid DIY ideas?

Melissa, on June 24, 2014 at 5:14 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 17

Hello everyone! I recently got engaged and my fiance and I are currently active duty military. Before I leave out of state for training, I was hoping to make gifts for my friends that I'd like to ask to be my bridemaids.

I saw some cute ideas on Pinterest and I'm leaning more toward like a small gift box with mini cute gifts inside.

Can anyone share other ideas they've seen or what they did for their own bridesmaids when they asked them? Thank you so much!! Smiley smile

I know a lot of people will say that you should just ask them without any fanfare, but I really liked making boxes for my girls. I used photoboxes and did some decorating on the outside, with ribbons, lace, pearls and feathers, depending on the friend, they all were decorated to match her personality. On the inside I put a nice wine glass, a small bottle of wine, a card, and a photo of us together. I had to ship them so rather than putting bubble wrap or something in them I bought inexpensive fashion scarves to protect the inside goodies. I had so much fun making them, it also got my crafting skills back up for all the DIY projects I am planning.

I made cookies for all my BMs Smiley smile

I got a dress cookie cutter and some cute sugar flowers and whipped up some cookies and icing. I made a cute little "will you be my bridesmaid" tag for each cookie, and got a box for each cookie, which I wrapped real pretty.

My BMs loved them, they were cheap, and I hear delicious Smiley smile

I bought unfinished boxes at hobby lobby, painted them with our wedding colors and glued a picture of me and the bridesmaid/MOH on the box. Inside the lid I wrote "Will you be my bridesmaid?" so when they opened it they saw it right away. Then as "gifts" I put a coral color candle(got them for about $1 each) that I added a little navy ribbon to, navy nail polish, a little card with my wedding colors glued to it (I kidnapped some paint samples and cut out little hearts in each color) , and then I made another little card with some dress ideas I liked on it so they would have an idea of what they were getting into. Finally i finished each one off with a candy bar I found with a cute navy and gray wrapper(so matching my colors) and a letter explaining why I wanted them. All of the girls really liked them and it only cost me about $10 each to put them together.

I saw a cute idea in Pinterest that I'm going to use: a plain (or decorated) box with a balloon inside. Attached to the balloon is a note (dont know what it will say yet, probably something along the lines of "I have to ask...") with a saftey pin taped to it. When they pop the balloon a note and glitter will fall out that says "Will you be my BM/MOH?" I think its cute and cheap!

I did a couple different things. One was her birthday and made her a handmade card that said happy birthday on the front and bridesmaid please? on the inside. I also did for a couple of them bought shot glasses and a small bottle of their favorite liquor and as we toasted I asked them. The others I just asked lol pretty much spur of the moment

Since all of my bridesmaids are out of state, I found a really cute inexpensive "will you be my bridesmaid" cards on Etsy. They came out great and a few of my BM called and said they almost cried! A great way to surprise your girls.

They're all out of state so I mailed them a card that had pictures of us on them. I went back pretty far to dig up some pictures and they all really loved how personal it was and they got to see pictures they had forgotten about. I then wrote a special note to each of them talking about how they're really important to me and how much it'd mean to me to have them on my wedding day. I printed the cards at walmart and so it was really inexpensive but I think they just loved the sentiment. The more personal the better!

I used smallish boxes and filled it with a poem, bridesmaid pin, and candy. The poem was special to each one and on the bottom of the poem it said something like " All I ask is you keep me from being a "sour patch," keep me from being an "airhead," and keep me grounded so I don't burst into stars. I obviously put sour patch kids, starbursts, and airheads in each box along with a ring pop. It was pretty cheap and they all loved it.

I got cute little charms on etsy for really cheap that have a purple charm on them...one of our wedding colors...and another charm on it that says "bridesmaid" or "maid of honor." The seller packaged them in a little box that had a note on the front that said "Will you be my..." and then when they opened it, they saw the charm. The charms are actually bouquet charms to use at the wedding!

I made these boxes for my MOH & 4 of my BM's... found the photo boxes at Michael's and just decorated them with stickers and ribbon. Inside I made them tees, split of champagne, champagne glass, card with a note and ring inside, and a picture of the dress I would like for them..
