Just Said Yes February 2021

Winter Wedding 2021 & Covid

Tricia, on April 23, 2020 at 2:55 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 5

Hi all. We have our wedding day booked for February of 2021. We're in one of the hardest hit areas of New Jersey. I know we have plenty of time, but with everyone talking about the second wave of the virus I am already thinking of other options. Our parents and grandparents fall into "at a higher risk" categories and I would be devastated (and not in any mind frame to celebrate) if one of our loved ones wouldn't be able to attend our February wedding due to being hospitalized or worse.

Has anyone moved up their wedding? Our engagement party was postponed and I was thinking of possibly turning it into a very simple backyard summer wedding. Hopefully summer brings some relief and we can host a small gathering. If we can still have our February date and the venue is open, I would love to have a still have a celebration reception with our larger guest list, as long as it is safe to do so. I know it is still early and there's a lot more important things happening right now, but any advice, thoughts, pros/cons, would be appreciated.

Stay safe.

My wedding is December 12th and we’re still going forward with it. I feel like it’s too soon to postpone because things could be very different in a few months. Not really sure what to believe at this point either. I wouldn’t postpone yet because it’s so far away but that’s just me😊

I think it's too early to think about postponing. People can speculate about a second wave, but in all reality, no one really knows. There are so many people giving opinions about the future that I take everything any expert says with a grain of salt. The virus isn't going away, so we just have to learn how to live with it safely. I really do like the idea of your engagement party as a summer backyard gathering! I personally love backyard parities. Hopefully your state will at least allow a small gathering by then. I know it's hard not to worry (I even worry with being June 2021), but we're all worrying because there's so much unknown. At this point, I think you can plan forward and keep your hopes up high!! Stay safe fellow 2021 bride! Smiley smile

My wedding is Feb 2021 as well and I don't even want to think about postponing it, my dad was upset because he's convinced that it's gonna last that long, but you really never know. I hear so many people post about the bad stuff about the virus, but they never mention the large amount of people that are able to make a full recovery from the virus, and they never mention huge news, such as the UK starting human trials on possible vaccines.

    Hi Tricia,

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I agree with the recommendations above. I think it's a little too soon to begin worrying about how the virus "might," mess with your 2021 wedding! Continue planning as usual!

If it makes you feel better, I will absolutely encourage you to have a small backyard wedding this summer! But, I certainly wouldn't call off your current plans for February just yet.

I'm sending so much love your way!

    Smiley heart

I’m February 2021 and I’m so nervous now that it’s December 2020, and I don’t know what to do.
