Winter is my favorite season -- I love the cold weather (I do have to admit that I'm from Florida so our cold isn't nearly as cold as other locations) and the festive holidays during that time -- Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day. When I was planning my wedding, I automatically knew I wanted to a winter wedding -- specifically in January which represents grand, new beginnings. When people think of winter weddings, they often think of Christmas or winter wonderland themes, but winter weddings are not limited to those themes and related color schemes. I got married in January 2021 at a resort with an oceanview, and my wedding colors were navy, burgundy and gold because I like that color combination. If I had to choose a theme, I would say the theme was elegance.

For those planning winter weddings, why did you choose your date? What are your plans, colors, and themes?

    Hello!
My wedding date is 12-11-21 (I’m obsessed with the date since it’s the same backwards and forwards lol)
Ever since I was a little girl I always dreamed of a winter wedding around Christmas. 🥰I just love the holidays and how it brings everyone together. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year and I wanted that feeling on my wedding day.We are doing burgundy reds, navy, lots of greenery, and gold accents.I want lots of candle light, greenery with red roses, I love the idea of hanging globs with candles to mimic the look of ornaments hanging from wooden beams with greenery. I can’t wait to make my vision come to life. We are very excited 🤗❤️

We chose 12/31/21 because it’s New Years Eve and means a celebration of new beginnings. My fiancé and I don’t typically celebrate our anniversary and this we thought this would be a great day for us to always get to take a moment to cheers to us and to cheers to another upcoming year and what’s ahead. Bonus will be that we will always have a reason to celebrate us!
We both have always wanted a winter wedding (truthfully neither one of us likes to be hot) and so winter was always on our radar. I love the magic of Christmas and the time how it brings everyone together, so it made sense to us to have a wedding during this time. Overall themes and colors are lush garland and lights everywhere. We will have unlit Christmas trees around the rustic venue with lights and softer colors to brighten the space. The colors we chose are burgundy, dusty rose and blush/peachy shades for bridesmaids and any florals.

We are getting married Feb 26th. It was purely for practical purposes - we wanted it to be far enough away that we would have a better chance of inviting everyone due to covid, but I also did not want to put it off too much because we want to get pregnant (sooner rather than later as we're both in our 30s) and I refuse to be pregnant at my wedding. I would have much better enjoyed an outdoor wedding in the fall but living in CA there is a heavy chance that the state will be on fire and not provide the best atmosphere.

Unintentionally it will be exactly a year to the date, that he proposed to me. That was kind of a happy accident

We are getting married on December 10, 2021 at a winery with so many delicious wines featured at the bar. We got engaged in December 2019, we both have always loved winter, especially the month of December, it was cheaper to get married in the winter, decor possibilities are endless, and there are so many more reasons why we chose a winter wedding. Our colors are cabernet and gold. We are not having any flowers, but TONS of lights and candles at the venue. We are having a southern comfort food buffet, a s'more bar, and a hot chocolate/hot cider station. There is something about the winter time that is just so romantic, so I think that is why we chose a winter wedding and are leaning into the winter theme as hard as we are.

We originally chose 1/23/21 because the date was super cool. Ended up having to go with 1/22/21 for religious purposes with our church. We didn’t have a reception due to covid regulations but we are having our reception 1/22/22! Its a gatsby theme so all decked out in black and gold!!
