Wireless microphone

Do you guys think handheld wireless microphones ruin pictures? Our DJ provides handheld microphones for the ceremony but I’m worried they will look clunky and weird during ceremony pictures. My videographer may provide wireless lapel mics but I am not sure yet.

I was talking about this with my videographer and DJ and they actually recommended the handheld. They said that often times the wireless lapel mike will pick up wind and make the footage difficult to use for the video. Just something to keep in mind Smiley smile

Personally I feel like a hand held mike is pretty common at weddings so I wouldn’t bat an eye if I saw it in pictures.

I think the handheld would be fine. Most people expect a toast of some sort so it would be understandable that they would be holding a mic so everyone could hear

I wouldn’t be worried about how it would look in pictures, just if it would feel awkward to hold. Though I’d imagine your officiant would be holding it for the most part, or maybe the whole ceremony— which makes me think you should ask the officiant how THEY feel and if they would be able to work with a wireless mic. I know my officiant held our ceremony script in a folder/binder, so I don’t know if she would’ve been able to turn pages holding a mic ! We had a mic stand for ours, I wonder if that’s something the dj would be able to acquire/provide or something that could be borrowed or purchased for cheap 🤔

Our officiant had a lapel mic and we used a handheld one for our vows! I definitely don’t think it ruined pictures.

Beautiful pictures! I’m not so worried about it now. I swear wedding planning makes you stress about the dumbest things lol.

Lol you’re good! Honestly I didn’t even think about it until I saw your post and I was like wait we used a handheld mic! I just wanted everyone to be able to hear our vows.

Me too! We are writing our own vows and they are very special to us and I also want everybody to hear them. Plus I’ve been to weddings where I haven’t been able to hear ANYTHING so I think mics would be a plus. Especially since our ceremony is outdoors.

Our videographer provides a lapel microphone to be placed on the groom’s jacket and it’s good enough to record both of us when we’re exchanging vows, or saying things during the ceremony. For the reception I’m not sure if we’ll be able to have it as well.
