Wish you would have postponed a big wedding?

Has anyone gotten married during this pandemic and wished they would have waited to have their dream wedding? We are getting married August 23rd and are seriously considering canceling our dream wedding and just having a small ceremony with a big party/reception later.

We’ve hired a DJ and have a photo booth but what fun is it if everyone has to wear a mask & social distance? Not trying to be a Debbie Downer here - just wanted to get some feedback.

I made my own tree, added birds and put our names and wedding date. I bought fingerprint ink pads. Guests will stamp finger and make the tree

I know this isn't what you asked for, but we postponed our big wedding (reception) to 2021 and are just having a small one next month. I would highly recommend doing this if you're at all anxious having a large gathering. Having to plan another event on much shorter notice wasn't exactly relaxing, but making the decision came with a lot of relief.

This is so helpful! Thank you! And I think we are gonna postpone the big celebration because we aren’t comfortable being in a large group of people. Plus it’s just not worth the stress and I don’t want my guests to be uncomfortable because they have to wear a mask. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one having to make this decision. Best wishes to you!!

We got married Saturday! We had a blast! We were a bit nervous about stuff but everything went prefect, it was the perfect day!!!! Everyone there wanted to be there and no one was that didn’t. Even though I thought I’d be sad about some family and friends that couldn’t come due to COVID or because of numbers on our wedding day it was all good. I wasn’t sad they weren’t there at least in the moment. I realize as long as the virus is around they won’t come, and at this rate it could be a long time. I was happy about who was there and happy to marry the love of my life which is the most important part. We wouldn’t have changed a thing. 50 was the perfect size, so glad it was 50 and not our 150. During this time, I have heard from some of my vendors that large wedding although aloud don’t make to many people feel comfortable. I don’t know if people will be ready for large groups for a very long time, even if allowed. 50 people...We actually got to talk to everyone, it was much more intimate! And for some of my extended family that wasn’t comfortable coming, the friends that came in their place...made our day so special and now those friends feel like our family who will be with us through it all. We are so relieved we are not on the covid roller coaster for our wedding now too. Now we can focus on other things. We want to have kids and save up for a house. We don’t regret it. It was the perfect day, and now we can chill out. I’m sure we will celebrate with family that couldn’t come or friends in the far future but if we ever did anything else to celebrate it with those that missed out, it would be very casual and much more cheap (like a picnic at a park or grill in the backyard), or maybe just a small personal dinner with a family here or there. Best of luck to everyone no matter what you decide to do. The choice you make will be the right choice, you must follow your heart! Ps. The rainbow was on our wedding day, after the cocktail hour and before dinner! Wish you would have postponed a big wedding? 1

We postponed from April to August and are going through with less than half of our guest list. I agree with the PP who said it’s easy to say of COURSE you’d postpone if you were getting married this year vs last. We’ve been planning for nearly two years and postponing the first time was absolutely devastating. The stress of replanning and the unknown made us realize what was actually important and it wasn’t a big wedding with 150+ people. We’re grateful we can have a scaled down ceremony of some sort, but were also fully willing and ready to have a ceremony without any reception.

Awww wow! Thank you so much for sharing about your special day. I agree - once we have the wedding behind us, we will definitely be able to chillax. We also want to have kids ASAP (I’ll be 40 in October) and the clock is ticking. Lol. I wish you all the best! ❤️

Thank you Lauren. Yes I agree - I’m glad we are going to have a very small group (about 12 people) so I can relax a little. I wish you all the very best on your big day next month!! ❤️
