What is a wishing tree?

ETA: google says : "Wedding Trees & Wishing Trees. The wishing tree is a beautiful wedding day custom with Dutch origins. In lieu of signing a guest book, wedding guests are asked to write their wishes and greetings to the happy couple on wish tags. Guests then hang their wishes on the wedding tree using clips, hooks, or string."

The Wish Tree is a Dutch wedding custom where guests are given a piece of paper, either shaped like a leaf or made of card stock. The guests write their wishes to the bride and groom and then hang it on the tree.

I did not know it was of Dutch custom but thought it was a cool idea ever since I saw it i a wedding by Misa Vu!

This is a really cute idea!

I've never heard of it but from what PPs have shared it looks nice. We opted for a guestbook canvas so we can hang it in our house vs. a book that will get shoved in a closet somewhere. If you have a place to display the wishing tree afterwards I think it would be lovely.
