I'm not understanding your question. You mean a wishing well instead of a honeymoon fund? Wishing wells are not typically done in the US and the only person I know who has done one was in Australia, where they are more common. Even then, they used their wishing well money to finance their honeymoon. If you're hoping to get cash instead of gifts, your best bet is to either not have a registry or to have a honeymoon fund.

You mean a fund for the honeymoon or the honeymoon itself? Be aware that many people will not contribute to these.

I suspect you are referring to a honeyfund not a honeymoon. Ultimately, they both involve the giving of monetary gifts, the difference that a honeyfund is more specifically directed at being intended for the honeymoon.

In Australia, wishing wells are more common than gift registries and no one takes issue with them. From my experience on WW, Americans tend to frown upon wishing wells (and time and time again I ask what is so wrong with it as opposed to having a gift registry). If you are debating the two, I would just go with a wishing well; no third parties and it is non-specific.

If you don't register, you will get gifts you don't want and can't return.

We’re not registered anywhere- only have a honeymoon fund set up.

Yikes, yeah if you are in America, neither. I wouldn't dare do either, but the honeyfund is slightly more acceptable

Wishing wells are generally considered rude in America, and honeyfunds are more acceptable. However, keep in mind that if you're going to have a bridal shower, you'll need to have some kind of registry for physical gifts

A wishing well is an alternate to a gift registry but involves the gifting of money. We are having a wishing well, this means that anyone who wants to give us a gift will (ideally) gift an envelope with cash rather than bringing a physical item.

In the US, honeyfunds are acceptable in many areas (like the East Coast, where couples tend to be already living on their own and in careers), so use a website like the Knot, where they let you break up requests into things like, "Romantic Dinner for Two" or "Train Tickets to *Special Location*" - so people can gift you an "experience".

Wishing wells, though similar, are not very well known in the US, and therefore not accepted/understood.
