Wisteria/drapery Decor Help Needed

Johnathan, on April 13, 2018 at 1:18 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 8

I'm having trouble finding anyone who has experience with artificial wisteria floral designs. I'm afraid that if I choose any decoration specialist, I might not get what I want. My vision for what our reception hall would look like is a combination of Inspiration #1&#2 below. In addition, I added a link to show what our venue looks like undecorated. What questions should I be asking a decor professional to be confident that they will be capable of creating our wisteria themed reception hall? I searched Google for any company in my state (WA) that have done wisteria decor for weddings and came up with nothing. I'm questioning myself on if I'm looking for something too specific. If so, what broader skill set should I be looking for in our wedding decorator?

Inspiration #1 (We might do white backdrop with white and light purple wisteria. In addition, we will definitely have lighting.)

Inspiration #2 (We want some of arch of wisteria like this in our reception hall)

That's going to look so awesome in your venue!

I'm not sure who might be able to help you because you specifically want artificial. but I know my florist would be able to do that for me with real flowers so maybe reach out to a reputable florist in your area and ask if they have any recommendations for how to get this done with artificial. They may have references to give you for your area within their network. You should definitely show anyone you speak with the inspiration pictures you've shown us so they can get a clear idea of what you want. I had a whole binder section of floral inspiration pics that I showed my florist lol

Thanks for the pointers! Yeah, I want artificial wisteria since there aren't much places where they grow naturally around my state. I'm sure that (artificial wisteria+backdrop+lighting) for an event our size will cost ~$3-7k. I'm trying my best to not spend too much on this.... lol

    Notes taken:

    * Contact a reputable florist NOT a wedding decor company

    * Clarify to florist that we are looking for artificial wisteria

    * If the florist cannot do the project for me, ask if they know anyone who can

    * Create a binder or document to share with florist

We didn't use a ton of wisteria because it was so expensive, but we decorated our tent with it! It's so pretty and visible in person, but not so much in pictures against a white backdrop. We used fake (looks real) from Amazon and spent a solid $400 on that and Ivy strands. you need to buy a lot. I''m not saying don't do it, it was unbelievably pretty in person, I just thought that I should warn about price and visibility in photos - below are examples in which there was lots of (invisible?) wisteria present.

Ugh I LOVE your inspo and I had the SAME inspos..but I wanted them to be purple...but the cost just wasn't going to work for us due to the amount of wisteria it takes and the space we had etc...but if I could have convinced my FH it was necessary, it was one of my top picks!
I saw some at Michael's for 50% off and I almost bought them all and changed a good portion of my already set theme_budget/wedding in 2 months, that's how much I love it! LOLXD

Anyway, I second asking a florist - mine works with real and faux florals however sometimes the faux costs just as much as real! If it's too out if your range, search amazon etc for faux ones and price out how many you would need...you may be able to purchase them yourself cheaper than a florist/decorator ordering and then pay someone to put it together? Or be brave and DIY!

Thanks for the pictures! Your tent looks awesome! I see what you are talking about in your photos.

    Notes taken:

    * Get a good contrasting background if I'm going to spend the money on the wisteria

    * Checkout Amazon and see if I can get any good deals

LOL I want to make this happen badly but at the right cost. Thanks to you and the others in this discussion, I'm given several perspectives on what I should look at and do before going ALL IN on this decor project.

    Notes taken:

    * Real and faux florals can cost the same so (get pricing for both before purchasing anything)

    * Try to find a florist that can do both faux and real

    * Buying the faux wisteria myself might be cheaper than having the florist buy it

Check Wish.com for artificial wisteria. I got a dozen lengths of purple for like $16.
