WITH PHOTO: Guilt and regret

Km42118, on March 13, 2017 at 1:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

**with photo**I don't like to spend money. I have room to but I often feel guilty. Especially with my dress. When I first went dress shopping I saw something for 1500 that I loved. But I couldn't imagine spending that plus 600$ in alterations on one thing that will be worn for 6 hours and then put away. So I went and bout a much cheaper dress for 500. From David's. I've tried on so many of their dresses and didn't find one I liked. It's nice but it's not my dream dress and I often have a feeling of regret. Anyone can tell me where to look for decent price dress in the hundreds (not thousands) for a light weight beach/destination wedding dress. I want to look amazing and not just something I took out of my closet. Someone told me you should wear something that you couldn't wear at another function. Thanks for reading! Btw: if you have a photo of your dress, I would love to see it!

Do you have a photo of the $1500 dress? Someone may know of a more affordable alternative.

Otherwise look into BHLDN and LuLus.

Yes BHLDN is great! Look at the websites of bridal salons in your area, they usually have an FAQ page that mentions the price range the dresses start and go to. I was pleased to find my place had a lot of dresses under $1000!

I think that's a beautiful dress. My daughter picked this for $1,000, but she tried others that were less expensive that I liked. Bridal Boutique.

I'm in the club -- I always feel guilty about spending discretionary income.

You reposted a previous thread with a photo. I already answered this, but, because you've added a photo to this post, I'm going to say that you look absolutely stunning in the pic you posted. My God, look at your bone structure and flawless skin. That gown was made for you. In fact, I'll say something I only say a handful of times -- you should be paid by the designer to model that gown.

So, which gown is this? The original or your dream dress?

My dream dress was $1700 which I can't afford and then I found this one for $275, and I'm perfectly pleased with this one. : )

I agree with the other posters who said that dress looks amazing on you. If you aren't happy with the one you chose, start by looking at the websites mentioned above, BHLDN and Lulu's are good suggestions. Contact local bridal boutiques and ask if they are having a sample sale. You may find something you love for much cheaper. Unfortunately, you may have to spend a little more than you first thought. You could always adjust your budget in different areas if the dress is your dream dress. Good luck!

This looks amazing on you! Perfect shape. And picture with a veil and your hair done. You could add a sparkly belt if you're looking to jazz it up

It looks amazing on you! Maybe the right accessories could help you fall in love with it?

I had dress regret and ended up getting a used one that I love from preownedweddingdresses.com- if you're really feeling like you made the wrong choice, maybe your dream dress is on there!

It does look gorgeous, but I'm also with you; I would never spend that kind of money for a dress (no offense to anyone who would...). If the photo you posted is the 500.00, it looks beautiful on you, and with a little bling it is perfect for the beach..

I was always if the same opinion. However my mom had other ideas. She insisted on buying my dress and got a little more say than. I found a dress I loved but hate how much it is costing. Now I have different regrets...

I totally hear you! I feel in love with a dress that was 2200 bucks. I couldn't see myself personally buying it so I didn't. I bought a beautiful simple bridesmaid dress in ivory and spent 300 dollars. Can't wait for it to come in and so excited that I love it and the price. At one point I did try to talk myself into the more expensive dress with the usual "you only get a wedding dress once" but so happy I stuck with my frugal self because it is more me and in the longer-term will love it even more. Plus getting married in July with a heavy dress didn't seem appealing!

It's beautiful. It fits extremely well of that's the one you purchased, alterations shouldn't be to bad.

It's just a dress. Will the other one make you 2 x happier? Probably not. Stick with that one.

Wish we could see your face--I often think it's not the dress but how you look wearing it.

Btw, the dress is beautiful and fits you very nicely.
