Wondering

Rosalyn, on May 13, 2021 at 9:50 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
Hello I was just wondering can someone give me some good ideas for my wedding ceremony. I lost my son on 8/13/20 and my mom on 9/18/20 and I want something at my wedding to represent them. I don’t want empty chairs because I won’t be able to handle it

I'm so sorry for your loss.

My SIL had a number of things to remember her loved ones. You can have the celebrant mention something/have a moment of silence, you could get one of these bouquet charms for their photos:

    Wondering 1

you could have a candle on the signing table with a little note saying it is there to represent your son and mum. You could sew a little piece of their clothing - maybe a blue piece! into the inside of your dress. You could play their favourite song as your aisle song or elsewhere in the ceremony. Incorporate their favourite food or a side dish into the menu. Have a toast during or after the ceremony for them. Wear a piece of your mum's jewellery or include her or your son's favourite flower into your bouquet.

Wishing you peace, and for you to reach that moment where the memory of your loved ones makes you smile and laugh.

I'm so sorry for your losses! I lost my grandfather 16 years ago, but we were extremely close and it was very important to incorporate him into my day. So I'm doing a few things: I am going to have floral pins in his birthstone incorporated into my bouquet, we are setting up a memory table with photos of the people who are no longer here, and I am dedicating a song to him during the reception where I am going to invite my family up to join me in a little group dance to remember him. I like the above poster's ideas as well. For me, my grandfather had a very light and happy personality and almost everyone who knew him said that I am a great reflection of who he was because we were so similar, so I tried to think of ideas that would create new memories in his honor vs. mourning the fact that he isn't here. I hope you are able to find peace and do the same with your mother and son Smiley heart .

Rosie shared a lot of good ideas! You could also incorporate some of their favorite songs, quotes, or readings or include a dedication in your ceremony program.

Wow I am really sorry for those losses. I would strongly suggest NO memory table with photos (they need to stop, really) as it can be VERY upsetting for guests to se photos of lost loved ones. I have heard stories of people crying over these tables and that is not the mood to set at a wedding! Charms in the bouquet are a great idea!

Perhaps a toast to them? I have been to a wedding where there were songs for the deceased, a dove release for the deceased, toasts for the deceased.....I mean, really - was this a funeral or a wedding?
