Wood flowers vs real flowers?????

Samantha, on November 23, 2019 at 6:21 PM Posted in Style and Décor 2 27
Where they what you expected?

Was it worth it?
Did they look like your inspo pics?
I'm weighing the pros and cons and can't decide! The wood quote was only $20 cheaper than real flowers! HELP!!!!!!

I’m going wood! I’m not a huge fan on flowers to begin with. And like if I’m spending all that money I rather get ones that won’t die!

Agreed with Rebecca! I’m also toying with the idea of real vs wood.

Samantha - would you do your whole wedding decor with wood flowers?

My best friend did wood flowers for her wedding bouquets- they looked lovely! She even recycled them in her house for magnets, etc.

I think it’s a good alternative, but I guess it just comes down to style, budget, and personal choice.

If it’s only $20 cheaper, then definitely go with real. The only reason to go with fake flowers would be if it’s a major savings.

I never thought about repurposes them like that! Magnets and other smaller keepsakes would be wonderful.
I could also make them into something to head out as thank yous to the people who helped out a lot!
    Thank you for that idea!!!

With a difference that small..it really depends on what you want.

I went with Sola flowers and preserved fillers for my bouquet, the boutonnieres, bridesmaid wreaths and centerpieces and I love how they have turned out so far. I put them together myself so I saved a lot and I can keep them forever or sell them after the wedding. I love flowers and plants..so much so that part of my job involves identification of them..but I couldn't personally spend so much on something that was going to die shortly after the wedding.
However..real flowers are also a gorgeous addition to wedding decor. If it meant more to me to have real stuff, I would have splurged on it.
    Good luck!

Both are gorgeous.. obv wooden last longer duh lol I’ve heard good and bad about both— I’m going real since we aren’t having many just the bouquets (mine and 3 in bridal party) and an arrangement at the door of ceremony — so I will donate them right after

I am using wood flowers since I am allergic to real ones. I made them myself so it was much cheaper then some of the other options. This was taken part way through making them so they don’t really have all their filler yet.

Have you looked into silk (fake - not always actual silk) flowers?
I’m also allergic to real and not a big fan anyway and unsure about wood as I haven’t seen them.
I think I’m going to go with Lily of Angeles on Etsy (or her direct site), but local shops also do fake. There are many sites for fake, but I feel like hers look good and would be a big savings over real.

These are still gorgeous!!! I’m debating making my own flowers vs having someone do them on Etsy. So many choices!

For only $20 extra, I would personally choose real flowers. I love the smell and look of real ones too much! Plus I didn't want to have a bunch of faux flower bouquets left after the wedding. This way the real ones can simply wilt away and I can just throw them away!

That’s what would say too! To save money, you can do mini lanterns or a single stem (real) flower for BMs. Make sure you get yourself a beautiful bouquet.

Personally, if it’s only saving you $20, I would definitely go with real flowers! Fake flowers are a great option if budget is an issue and it’ll save you a substantial amount of money. But let’s be honest, fake flowers always LOOK fake- even the really nice ones. Real flowers look sooooo much prettier, smell great, and photograph better! And if you drop real flowers, they won’t break 😉 If you want to continue enjoying your flowers after your wedding, there are tons of options available these days- you can have them preserved and made into framable art, paperweights, sage sticks, tinctures, just to name a few. I’ll attach some pics for you Smiley smile

Wood flowers vs real flowers????? 8 I went with wood and got mine from Southern Blooms. They should be having a Black Friday sale which should make a huge difference in price! I have allergies so I definitely didn’t want real flowers and absolutely love how mine turned out! They’re super light weight and won’t wilt like real flowers would. I’m definitely super happy I went with them!

I love my wooden flowers! They arrived a few days ago and I'm obsessed! I know you can preserve real flowers, but it's much more effort. Plus I like that there's not as much waste. I would check out Southern Blooms-- they have 40-50% off sales often, so that could increase your savings. I've heard from so many of their brides that people are shocked when they find out they're not real. They're resilient and pretty, and really light weight! Plus, I'm letting my bridesmaids keep theirs as an extra gift!

Have you looked in to Ling's moments for fake? I found them easier than wood, and their colors already look great. I hired a florist for my bouquets, but I'm making centerpieces, welcome table flowers, and aisle flowers with lings moments.
