wooden letter guestbook

Future Mrs. Glace, on June 27, 2016 at 6:44 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

For my wedding, we are doing a wooden letter like this for our "guestbook". Im buying a 2 foot unfinished wooden letter G for our last name. I want to paint it black and have white or gold signatures. Not sure if a matte spray paint or regular paint would be better or if makes a difference, and what kind of pens I should use for people to sign it. Should I seal it with something when it's all done to protect it? please help!

I have no experience with this, but considering you still have over a year, here's my suggestion:

Buy a smaller letter, pray paint and some markers/pens... All cheap, and do a mock up. If the cheap stuff works great, if not, work your way up.

This is my guest book plan as well!

I've been trying to figure out how big of a letter I need and Google is failing me Smiley sad

From what i've found though, these are usually signed with sharpies. Sealing it afterwards definitely won't hurt!

Sharpie makes oil paint pens that work really great on wood as well. They come in a bunch of different colors. They even sell them at home depot and lowes.

We had a wood puzzle for ours. The oil paint pens worked fantastically.

I would say use chalkboard paint and sharpie markers, then after its signed seal it with clear coat

The sharpie oil paint pens for sure, and then seal it with some type of finish afterward. We had a nice big stained oak board for our guest book and we used the sharpie oil paint pens. They looked so nice!

Great idea! Use a matte paint (either spray paint or regular paint). For the pens, definitely use the sharpie paint pens. After the wedding, you can do a clear gloss coat to protect it.
