Wording for Bridal Shower Invitations (oot Family)

Brittany , on May 13, 2019 at 10:29 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 3
Hi! I need help with wording for my bridal shower invitations. Basically my mom and FMIL both insist it’s the polite thing to invite my FMIL’s out of town family. I want to include a little note (coming from my bridesmaids) that expresses we don’t want them to feel an obligation to come.

i also don’t want it to come across as a gift grab. It’s genuinely not. There’s just some older members of the family that we want to make sure feel included in everything!

So so far I have:
“your presence at the wedding in September is more than enough but we couldn’t possibly leave out some of the bride and groom’s favorite people from a party!”

I feel like I should include one more line about not wanting them to feel obligated to travel.

help!

thanks Smiley smile

I think what you have is fine. People understand that they are not obligated to attend multiple wedding events. If they want to come, they will. If they don't think it's feasible, they won't. Honestly, for me, if I saw something like that on am invitation, I'd probably feel a stronger sense of obligation as now you're calling me one of your favorite people.

Hey Brittany! I don't think you need to worry, people understand that they are being invited to multiple pre-wedding events but that they are not obliged to go, especially if it involves traveling.

I agree I never see an invitation as an obligation but making a point to say something about it might make me feel obligated to or even like you really don't want me there depending on the wording!! I would just send the invitation. If people can't come they won't. It's lovely to be included and I think most people understand it's only if they can attend, not a forced requirement.
