Workout clothes instead of lingerie party?

Bride2Be, on March 14, 2021 at 12:29 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 13
I’ve heard of the bridal party doing a lingerie party but I’m really not into lingerie that much and neither is my FH. Has anyone ever done workout clothes instead? Is that a thing? I would much rather have people pick out cute workout clothes than intimate pieces. Has anyone ever done or seen this?

Tbh most people in my circle skip the lingerie party because it's considered in poor taste. One girl I know fid pajamas, but the others just didn't do it. It's another gift to give for people who are already giving a lot to be part of your day, so I'm big on skipping it.

If you did workout clothes, my two concerns would be cost and not enough relation to the wedding

Pre-wedding parties are wedding related. So if you are not comfortable with a lingerie party which many social circles feel is too risque, skip it entirely.

Is this in addition to or instead of a bridal party? If in addition to, I would just skip it entirely. One less thing for guests to have to buy, and one less event you have to plan.

Instead of workout clothes ... what about lounge wear? I’m not a fan of workout clothes or true pajamas, everyone can use cute lounge wear. Just a thought.

I would skip it. Most people don't have lingerie parties anyways and if they do it's because they want something sexy to wear on the night of their wedding or honeymoon. Whereas workout clothes have nothing to do with the wedding or honeymoon.

Skip it. Workout clothes don't have anything to do with the wedding or honeymoon

Y’all make a good point about it not having anything to do with the wedding! I’ll just skip it! Thank you!

I don't think asking for workout clothes is appropriate. It's not wedding related at all, and comes off as a thinly veiled gift grab. Also, "cute", branded workout clothes worth gifting are very expensive. Lingerie is at least wedding related, and a guest can get away with buying cheap and tacky lingerie as a gag gift. You can't pull that off with workout clothes.

Very true! Didn’t think about it that way and I wouldn’t want it to come off bad like that!

At bridal showers I’ve seen a lot of lingerie but I can totally understand that you’d not want that cause personally I haven’t even really wanted to even use the lingerie I was given. Haha. I think maybe if you put specific workout clothes like ones that say Bride or whatever then it’s ok but I think ppl are just used to the lingerie cus it’s more exciting to ooh and aww at

On the other hand, a trousseau for a honeymoon can be not only a gown for the captain's table at sea, or opera glasses for theatre, but anything special. And I have seen exercise clothes at a shower and when bridesmaids had a part for the bride ( before bachelorette s) and when asked been told that every hotel the couple has a room in, and on board ship for the cruise part, they have complete gyms and workout areas. And though I was there as a coworker, and did not know, apparently working out together was something they did together every day off or vacation. So I would say, what is appropriate is what the guests think it is.
