Ask the baker if this is a legitimate concern.

I would ask the Baker. We cut our cake right when we got into the reception. Then they took it away to cut it for guests. So it wasn't out long.

Your baker will most likely suggest a fondant cake rather than buttercream which will hold its shape slightly better in the heat. Also they will be able to give you a set up and break down time that will work with your outdoor request while keeping the cake safe!

I was going to say, buttercream very likely could melt but fondant less so. Let your baker know your concerns, maybe there are some preventative things they can do to prep the cake, maybe you can have a fan on it, etc.

Also, please change your avatar! You have 3 stars so you should know this by now Smiley winking

Your Baker will know what to do. He will likely advise you on which frostings will hold up best. They make a certain buttercream to hold up in heat.

If the Bakeries in hawaii have figured out how to not get a cake to melt at outdoor beach weddings, then your Florida baker is well equipped to deal with the heat.

I'm having mine outside too in November in Florida. The baker will know what to do!
