My fiance is very superstitious and seems to think any other month then August is bad, kidding but almost every month he has a reason. may his sister passed so May is bad, November his dad passed, October 1 he says is satans birthday...okay never heard that one. So we settled on August long story short we are having a DW wedding in Las vegas in August, outside! I am worried. Any suggestions? I am providing paper fans & water bottles for during the ceremony. I am putting it on our wedding website that it will be hot and to dress cool.

The "average" temp in august is 103. You need to do whatever needs to be done to get this moved indoors asap. And I am sorry but your FI is ridiculous about Satan's birthday. Satan does not have a birthday because Satan was never born. I would love to know his thought process on that one.

    @Chrissy hahahaha love it.

I'm worried about the heat in July in New England, never mind Nevada in August. Your fiance is worried about Satan's "birthday", but has no problem being in the midst of hell's kitchen. If you can, you should really move this inside for your own sake and your guests' safety. What happened to the other months? What happened in September? What about October 2-31? June! April!

Uncomfortable is not cool. (Pun not intended, but works!)

Move your wedding inside. Not only will your guests be miserable and not able to focus on your wedding , you will be so hot in your dress and be sweating.

Sequin I went to a mostly outdoor (covered pavilion) evening wedding in Newport RI in late August and it was lovely.

Yes, we have already paid deposits and he is set on August and I am set on Outside because I love the space. We're getting married in Vegas so our total ceremony is like 8 to 12 minutes and the reception is located inside in air conditioning.

Your original post reads like your ceremony and reception are both outside.

So to sum up this post:

    You ask for suggestions.

    People give you great suggestions.

You're doing what you want anyway.

But LV BRIDE, you know that people will arrive early for your ceremony, right? And if you don't start exactly on time, that 8-12 minutes can approach a half hour. People who arrive early may be outside for almost an hour.

Basically, what the last comment says is that you're doing what you want. I hope you budgeted for on-call EMT.

Sounds like you are putting your vision above your guests' comfort and safety. Good luck with that.

Ahh, and she'll probably be pissed when everyone looks melted from the heat in photos. Runny makeup, sweaty hair, and dress clothes? No thanks.

I was in Vegas in September and it is miserable. Suggestions: do it in the morning or after the sun goes down, keep the ceremony extremely short and have the reception indoors, move the whole thing indoors, pick a DW to a less hot location. I have been to an outdoor ceremony and reception in 105 degree weather. The guests were literally sticking to their chairs, a BM fainted in the heat, and it was miserable. Please do everything in your power to make your guests comfortable (and yourselves).

No I have been to Nevada in July, just walking across a parking lot was unbearable. Anything over 80 degrees is a hard no for me. Just ask your FH how he is going to feel a tux outside in 100+ degrees. Change the location or change the date.

According to Underground Weather, last year on August 6th Las Vegas reached 105.1 F. That is way too hot to have guests outside even for the shortest of ceremonies. Personally I would get sick and everyone will be grumpy and sweaty. I would suggest finding an indoor alternative.

I went to Vegas in August a few years ago. It was so hot we could barely make it from one casino to another on the strip. I highly highly recommend reconsidering.

@CK They're expecting the heat to get rid of about 3/4 of the guest list during the ceremony so they can fit the remainder of that 40 person guest list into the suite.

    OR

I'm sure it's a receiving line cake/punch reception. There will be a line out the door for people waiting to greet/congratulate the bride and groom after the outdoor 105 degree ceremony taking place in hell's kitchen.

    Just kidding... sort of.
