My fiance is very superstitious and seems to think any other month then August is bad, kidding but almost every month he has a reason. may his sister passed so May is bad, November his dad passed, October 1 he says is satans birthday...okay never heard that one. So we settled on August long story short we are having a DW wedding in Las vegas in August, outside! I am worried. Any suggestions? I am providing paper fans & water bottles for during the ceremony. I am putting it on our wedding website that it will be hot and to dress cool.

Your FH needs to get over the unlucky month thing. What if you have a baby in October one year? Will you have to sacrifice it or name it after Satan?

There's no way in hell I'm dressing up and putting on makeup to sit outside in 100 degrees. Your FH needs to be less concerned about Satan in October because he will show up for real in August with your uncomfortable guest.

Have you ever been to Vegas in August? It's hot burns your feet walking on the pavement barefoot. Drove through in August to my sister wedding had to stop because I had to change a diaper. Long story lol maybe rent some fans

After your last update I think you are both equally unreasonable. If you invited me to your wedding and I got there and found out you expected me to go outside in 100+ degrees to watch you get married, you would see me waiting inside. Putting your vision above your guests comfort in stifling, dangerous heat is terribly rude.

YOU may think it is 8-12 minutes but people arrive 20 minutes early, then you have to pray that you start on time, and then people need to be released. They will be out there an easy half an hour.

    8/6/2015 - 106 degrees

    8/6/2014 - 98 degrees

    8/6/2013 - 105 degrees

    8/6/2-12 - 104 degrees

    8/6/2011 - 96 degrees

    8/6/2010 - 106 degrees

You should be worried and you both need to let you of your ideas here. You do NO put your guests outside at weddings in those temps. Even for a little while. I am still waiting to hear about Satan's birthday.

In 8-12 minutes (and they will be in the sun for longer than that, think 20ish minutes) in the desert sun, you and more importantly your guests that have traveled to watch you get married will get sunburned, more than likely will suffer from dehydration, heat stroke and potentially sun poisoning and will not be able to recover to have any fun at all at your reception. Move it inside.

I hope your videographer is ready to capture you/your FH/a member of the wedding party passing out. Youtube loves those clips.

That's the way these threads ALWAYS go Elyse.....

Oh, and your BP will get sunburned too. Especially those hipster guys with shaved heads.

    Sounds about right.

Be a dick and expect your guests to swelter in the heat in the Vegas heat because 1. dates are scary 2. outdoors are pretty.

If I were a guest, I'd stay home and catch the highlights video.

I think I will have my wedding outside in Minneapolis in February. But it's ok because I plan on handing out snowshoes and mittens for the ceremony.

I live in AZ and would never make my guests stand outside in the heat, in august or our hot months. We had an outdoor ceremony at 5 pm in april and the temps were in the 70s. we had complaints with that... therefore, move it inside or prepare for some dehydrated, sunburnt, grouchy guests.

Or do a later wedding when the sun goes down.

@MNBride I was just popping in to say EXACTLY that! What if I decided to have my short winter wedding ceremony outside in MN in February?! So what if it's minus 15, it's only a few minutes... Hope no one gets frostbite. You'd think I was insane, right??? Your outdoor desert wedding in August is the same damn thing. Unsafe weather conditions for you and your guests.

And to be quite honest I would still take Minnesota in February over Nevada in August.

Also sunscreen under makeup makes you shiny in photos.....This is gonna be good. I was ROASTING at our December wedding. It was in the 60's. No joke I could feel the sweat running down my legs.

Wow ladies what an uproar. Have any of you got married in Vegas? The weddings are very short and it's not like I am not concerned for my guests or I wouldn't have titled my post the way i did....so um CHILL.

Satan's birthday I honestly have no idea where he get's that.

Who was rude to you...? If what we've been saying is rude all your guests are rude too since this is what they'll be thinking as well.

You asked for suggestions; you got them. Go with the indoor option.

OP, we're agreeing that you should be worried-- worried enough to move the whole thing indoors. The indoor space is lovely!
