My fiance is very superstitious and seems to think any other month then August is bad, kidding but almost every month he has a reason. may his sister passed so May is bad, November his dad passed, October 1 he says is satans birthday...okay never heard that one. So we settled on August long story short we are having a DW wedding in Las vegas in August, outside! I am worried. Any suggestions? I am providing paper fans & water bottles for during the ceremony. I am putting it on our wedding website that it will be hot and to dress cool.

I live in Central California and the weather where I live is similar to Vegas in the summer. On more than one occasion, I've had friends come visit from the Bay area or Southern California where it is much cooler, and they've gotten sick. Like physically ill, migraines, laying in the dark and cool for hours because they were so sick. And it's not like these people were outside really at all. Many people (think of your grandparents!) do not react well to heat at all.

This post makes me think of the outdoor August wedding I attended in Ca where one of the BMs fainted right during the vows. Everyone here has given sound advice. I hope you take it.

^^^^^ This also happened at a wedding I was at too. Just trying to show that BM's fainting during hot weddings is NOT uncommon.

What was the purpose of the post if you are already that committed to it? Like. You've already paid the deposit. Soooo. Just give out water bottles as favors? I don't know the point anymore

I went to a wedding here in CT in the summer, it couldn't have been more that 85 degrees, and everyone was dripping sweating and felt so gross for the entire reception. And that was only 85 degrees. I can't even imagine upwards of 100.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding in October, and no one could have guessed that it would be almost 100 degrees in LA that weekend. We survived, but very sweatily and I got a little sunburnt since the area where we stood was uncovered. My FH said he and my guy friends in suits were really uncomfortable, though. Luckily, the venue put out umbrellas and water coolers. If you're going to insist on being outside, at least do that much.

ETA The bride's MUA put makeup on her back/chest to match to her face. It bled into the dress because she was sweating.

Ok thank you for the advice and I choose the indoor option. I saw a wedding on their website with it decorated and it was much prettier than just plain white.

I am having a peacock theme so it should be really nice and colorful. You ladies have been helpful but just a bit harsh for me Smiley smile

Thank you all the same for the advice and it has been changed to the inside space.

I still say the indoor option is the better option.

I went to a wedding in AZ (we live here) in October and it was at 6pm. It was so hot that I had to go into the car to cool off.

If I was to do a wedding in Vegas or AZ (which has been known to be hotter), it would have to be pool side, guests in the pool and a blended beverage for me to comfortably attend.

ETA: Just saw OPs comment. Great choice. the indoor Space is really beautiful

For the love of god do not make your guests sit outdoors in the extreme heat.
