Worried weight gain after buying my dress

Molly, on June 30, 2012 at 1:06 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 14

Everyone fluxuates in weight a little. So this this time next year i'm getting married.

I just bought my dress and it was comfortable and not too tight. It was easily zipped and everything. Should i worry about weight gain by the time i get married? It'll be my first year in college so is the freshman 15 going to kill it? I'm incredibly worried about not fitting it. Any ideas suggestions or anything??

Gaining weight isn't a given, and the 'freshman 10" doesn't just happen by itself. Be very conscious of what you're eating, utilize the gym and other fitness facilities that you have access to, and walk all over campus! It's going to be fine; what an exciting time of life! Where are you going to school? What for?

If you want to maintain the weight that you are at work out for an hour a day. Than you shouldn't have to worry about weight gain. An hour long workout maintains current weight, working our for and hour and a half loses weight. Just be sure to continue how you eat now maybe even a little healthier and you should be fine.

You might want to try the dress every few months or something. I gained the freshman 15 when I started college and didn't even know it lol. Another idea would be to measure certain parts of body (arms, hips, thighs, chest, etc) and also measure every so often. As long as you keep aware of it and keep doing what you are doing to maintain weight, you should be fine Smiley smile

I'm going to college to get my associate's degree in nursing. I plan on eating healthier, no drinking, and also any sweets just taking half of. Measuring every few months sounds like a good plan. Unfortunately i wont be able to try the dress on every few months since i'm going to college in texas and the dress will be in Montana. I'm young and everything but still nervous!

I didn't gain weight my freshman year, I gained it my sophomore year because, as Celia mentioned, it's about being conscious of it. I sat on my butt, didn't leave my computer, ate pizza and horrible things and it was bound to happen.

If you are putting forth the effort to eat right, get some exercise and not let stress get to you, you'll be fine! But my suggestion would be to record your weight now, and weigh yourself each month. If you notice a few pounds, you're conscious of it! If you notice 20 lbs, well, you know and have enough time to do something about it.

I think the hardest part will be the holidays. I don't know about you, but Thanksgiving to Xmas... I can't resist the sweets and the yummy food!!

It isn't college that causes freshmen to gain weight, it's a change in diet. Often when freshmen are away from home-cooking for the first time, they rely on high-fat, high-carb foods like pizza and burgers. It's hard if you're in a dorm because you won't have your own kitchen, but if you are mindful of what you're eating you can avoid gaining weight. And even if you gain a little, it's not the end of the world! Somehow I gained weight between my first and last fitting, but in just a few weeks of exercise and diet, my dress is zipping again. Don't worry!

I actually lost weight my freshman and sophomore years, so by being conscious of what you eat, you should be fine. For me, I was also worried about fitting in my dress. So I simply just watched what I ate and cut out most carbs. I have maintained my weight since I got my dress back in April and I know it will fit. You will be fine as long as you're aware of what you're eating! But congrats on your first year of college!!! Good luck girl!!!!!

My FH did the same diet I did and in 7 months lost 30 lbs. i know I lost about 15. Try the Atkins diet. If you wanna lose weight. It works awesome. We lost all the weight we had gained in like 7 months. For maintaining, I literally ate the same foods every day. On the weekends, I gave myself a little bit of a cheat day so I could have some carbs. But on my diet, it was salads, salads, salads. Once I hit my goal weight, I would only have a cup of soup for lunch and a small bag of chips. For dinner, it would be a small salad or a light dinner. I have eaten the same thing since April and it's works wonders. It's been hard but I remind myself it's all for the greater good. I'm going to go back on Atkins to finish loosing my last four lbs.

I'm going to try to maintain my weight and just eat healthier overall. Stop eating a lot of bread. And i'm also going to only have some of the good stuff. I don't want to pay a lot for alterations and losing or maintaining weight is the best option.

Throughout the entire year i weight within a five pound limit. During the school year i weight gain so i lose more fat and just gain muscle. I think this is good since i'm healthier but i dont want my arms looking manly.

If i maintain weight and just become healthier is this the best thing???

I'm kind of in the same boat. I lost weight and then got a dress but my wedding is a year away and the dress can't be let out at all. I've been tracking my calories with myfitnesspal.com and I haven't gained a pound. That's how I lost weight. I highly recommend that!
