An injury at work has resulted in a scratched eyeball and a big ol’ black eye. The nurse I spoke to gave me antibiotic gel to put on my eye but she said it’s about to get really ugly. It’s already ugly. 😰 I’m still meeting with vendors this month and my wedding is soon. Can a makeup artist completely cover a black eye? What do I even do about the eye itself? I’ve never had a black eye before, great timing.
Any tips would be very helpful! ❤️

Oh! And, my mom has to go to the ER all the time for eye issues. They're INCREDIBLY painful, so I don't think you have anything to be embarrassed about! Make sure they give you good, lubricating antibiotic eye drops. And see if they'll give you ointment for overnight, since your eye can really get painful at night. Also, your eye can only absorb 3 drops at a time every 20-30 minutes. So you have to wait in between applications. I'd also get artificial tears.

Thank goodness!! I’ve been doing this skincare routine to have nice radiant skin for makeup, this just felt like a step backwards you know? I’ve got this nasty crust coming out of my eye so I’m not allowed to put anything on my face. Booo.

That makes me feel a lot better about it, thank you. Sorry about your mom though! When it first happened I started sobbing at work because I couldn’t open my eye and I saw blood(just from my eyebrow) so I completely panicked. The doctor and nurses were really cool about it at least.
The thing they gave me is a gel I put in the “pocket” of my eyelid and I just roll my eyeball around to coat it, it’s used 3x a day including overnight, it doesn’t do anything about pain though, it’s just to stop infection. I’ll see if my family doctor can give me actual drops or at least something to help with pain.

Yam, we need to start our own eye-health chat, lol.

I would go to an eye doctor specially. Get a referral. They have numbing drops BUT you can only use them for a few days or else they can cause an ulcer in your eye (I get the heeby jeebies just typing that).

Good idea, I’ll see if my doc knows a good one when I do my follow up. In the mean time I’ll just ask my stylist what to do. 😰 not knowing anything about makeup other than lipstick is coming back to haunt me

I hope you don't stress too much! I know easier said than done of course! But it will work out! Maybe eating certain foods with high contain vitamins will help with the bruising? I know like vitamin K and vitamin C tend to help speed the healing process. I know, fish oil helps to heal too so maybe? You got this though!! If you need any help with things we are here for you!

That’s a great idea! I don’t take nearly enough vitamins. It’s probably just wedding stress, so much going on in the final stretch.

Hopefully, that'll help! You got this! You are awesome!! Maybe make a list? That may help, once you can cross stuff off and be like "yeah! I got this!"

Looking better! Turning yellow around the edges. It’s still kind of gross but I can sort of open it now.

Glad it’s looking better. Hopefully you can see out of your other eye. I didn’t realize that you couldn’t open the eye - if that happened to my “good” eye I wouldn’t be able to drive. My bad eye is really weak.

Yeah that’s the only reason I allowed FH to take me to the ER, I couldn’t open my eye at all. The doctor pried it open and I had eyelashes stuck in it. Damn broom lol I can crack it open now because the swelling has gone down but the buildup in my eye still makes it blurry.
Progress! Taken just now. The crust is going away thanks to antibiotics, I think it’s healing surprisingly fast! My dumb leg bruises never heal this quickly.

Oh wow, you can def see how deep the bruise went. That broom handle had some aim! I hope that it keeps healing fast.

My FH feels sooo bad because he was the one holding it. The dangers of working together, lol
Thank you, I feel a lot better about it now. I’ve gotten some suspicious side eyes from older ladies, really can’t wait until it’s healed enough I can cover it.

Lol! I’m going to use that! They keep side eyeing my poor FH when we run errands and it makes him feel bad. I’m sure my seamstress is going to gasp. I’ll probably tell her the truth though. Yeah I got KO’d by a broom, not my proudest moment. I think people relax when you use humor.
The nurses at the ER were side eyeing him too. I wear a back brace and a hip compression belt from a back injury so I came in wearing those from work and sporting a black eye. It looked bad. FH looked like he wanted to crawl into a hole!

Ha! Your poor FH, I can only image the amount of side eye that he’s getting.
