Would you rather... get no gift or a gift you didn't register for?

A gift is a gift, and could have some use, I would definitely receive anything than nothing at all.

It really doesn't matter. We appreciate the gift and we appreciate our loved ones taking the time to be there for our special day.

I don't understand the question honestly. Their presence is plenty because gifts are never mandatory, and anything you do receive should be accepted graciously. So I would be ok with either.

I got someone a gift they didn’t register for once and hope they love it and never would have thought of it. It was a custom hand drawn pastel portrait of their dog.

Where I'm from, everyone buys off the registry as the main wedding gift. Monetary gifts are never given for any occasion, and off-registry gifts are given when the couple doesn't register. While everyone knows is never required, we would be fine with either option because that isn't the reason for the wedding.
