Hey everyone, I recently had my dress altered and bust decreased, and am having trouble with the bust seam wrinkling/puckering. The left side is worse than the right, but both sides are not completely smooth. My seamstress says that because there's like 4 layers underneath (all of which needed to be opened and decreased), the seams are showing through the fabric especially since it's white. We tried EVERYTHING including trimming the seams, clipping the seams, steaming and pressing the seams, putting in TWO cups (one on the layer closest to my skin, and one between the second and third layer (to try to buffer some distance between the seams underneath and the outermost layer)....it got a bit better, but I would say that the wrinkles are still 50% there (sorry don't have an updated picture of the improvement). The wrinkles are also NOT from me not filling out the dress - I tried to put in some ridiculous padding cups to really fill it out and it actually made the wrinkles worse if anything. I think the wrinkles are from the seams from the inner layers bc when the dress is not taut (not being worn), the outermost layer actually lays smooth. I looked up some other pictures of the same dress (Morilee - Maribella) to compare and saw that some are also kinda wrinkled at the bust (second pic shown). Some however have like perfect seams (like the one below).
Is it just a design flaw of my dress? Or did alterations kind of mess up and I need to go somewhere to fix it? Is there a solution to my wrinkled seams or do I just have to make peace? My wedding is in less than a month...help!! Thank you!
