    I wrote my own !

i don't really have any advice for this aha other than to know that even if you don't get to say all you wanted to during your vows, you'll have a lifetime to say things from your heart

My biggest advice is don't leave it to the last minute. Without an external deadline from a vendor, venue, etc, it was the one thing we kept saying we could do later. Well, Thursday night before our Saturday wedding we were still working on it. Barely got them printed before I ran out to get my nails done Friday so we could head up to the venue!

We plan too and I am a write by profession, yet some how I can't find the words, haha! I am trying SO hard not to wait until the last minute, but the lack of words is not helping..

We wrote ours and I would agree with PP to get started early and read them a few times. You will make changes as you think about them. We had a mutual friend read both of ours to be sure we were kind of on the same page with timing and content. We also put a little humor in ours that people loved. Have fun with it. Good luck

We are writing our own vows. It has taken me almost 3 months to write mine to my FH. I looked at love poems, love quotes, and experiences we had dating each other. I started with a wedding poem picked what I liked from it and went from there. Hope this helps.

We're writing our own. I have some of it jotted down already but still have a little bit to go. I'm just writing how he makes me feel and how grateful I am to have him in my life.

We're writing our own. Most people are surprised because we're both pretty quiet in groups. I wrote the bulk of mine during part of a six hour car ride home from my cousins wedding. I just wrote how I feel. I'm better with him than without..

We're writing our own vows! My plan of action is to write them from the heart and tell him how much he really means to me

We're writing ours, I already started. We're not getting married until next year but as thoughts come at different times I jot them down.

I wrote my own. I started just looking at her picture and thinking about our relationship and how happy I am to be marrying her. That turned into the promises I wanted to make, some sweet and traditional, some funny and unique to our relationship. You can find vow examples online. Some of my favorites can be found on Offbeat Bride.

How long were your vows? I think I've got a pretty good start, but don't know how long they should be.

I feel like 3-5 minutes is pretty average but if they are heartfelt don't worry so much about the time. I haven't timed mine yet but I think they should run about 3 or 4 minutes.

We plan to write our own vows! Did anyone read them before the ceremony, to each other? I read about this idea of reading your vows to each other the night before (after the rehearsal dinner) as a way to make it special between the two of you and also a way to practice and get rid of the nerves! Any thoughts on this?

My sappy self cried when I reread them, and again when I wrote them into my book for the ceremony. I know I'm going to be a mess on the big day.

My officiant is writing our vows, I wrote a set up just in-case... I had to? However, my officiant totally said he had it taken care of and we're doing a Harry Potter theme. He wanted what we were going to say to be a surprise, so I gave guidelines, to avoid any frowny-facing at the Ceremony. I actually thought it was super cute that he wanted to participate in that manner and the FH thinks the surprise will be pretty awesome. We've been together almost 9 years, we both know how special we are to one another... it's something different to be completely surprised and we're up for it!

Since you're doing your own, I would make sure to do your vows pretty early into the game. It's good to revisit, but don't put it off until last minute. PP are right, you don't want to push it off.

We are writing our own. speak from the heart. I've already begun to think about what I am going to say but I have 2 sets to write. I have vows to his 8 year old. So I've got a lot to think bout. Definitely do not procrastinate on them, it will freak you out for sure! I read a few samples to give myself some inspiration and gave me an idea of what I want to say.
