Writing vows

Kenna, on August 26, 2021 at 7:05 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
I told my FH a while ago that I thought it would nice to write a letter to each other and open it on our first anniversary. He didn’t say yes or no. But said that we would forget. Which is probably the truth as we have busy lives with family, work, and 2 kids-one with special needs. So I dropped it and haven’t thought about it since. Well Monday he asked me how far I’ve gotten on my vows. I stopped what I was doing and asked him what he meant. He thought when I said “letter” it meant writing our own vows. He already has his done and has for a while. I do not and haven’t even started them. We are at 15 days till the wedding. Holy crap. Now I’m freaking out.
Any tips on how to start vows. I’ve never been to a wedding where they write their own vows. And I’m at a loss on what to say, how to start it, and everything else. Please help

The vows are promises you make to the other person. They should be about 3-5 minutes long. I started out with a brief 2 or so sentences about what he means to me, and then I made the vows (promises) to him. If you Google example vows, you'll find several. Some I had were more general, like vowing to be supportive, etc. Others were very specific to us, like promising him a music room when we get a house (he has like 5 guitars, a banjo, etc.).

So I looked up samole vows and watched YouTube videos of weddings where the couple wrote their own vows. I found that both really helped me.
