WWR: How do I shut down a WW wedding website?

starlette7886, on November 6, 2010 at 5:15 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

As many of you know, I'm in the middle of a divorce, and while I've decided to stay (at the request of many...thank you all btw), I'm really not keen on keeping the wedding website up for what was suppose to be one of the happiest days of my life.

Anyway, does anyone know how to shut down a wedding website on here? I looked everywhere before posting this, and found nothing. Smiley sad

Any help would be great. Smiley smile

Could you email the WW gods? I haven't even set up my website, so I'm no help other than that...

Im not sure about actually taking it down, but heres what Ive done to make it virtually not findable-

go to the wedding website page on WW, click the settings tab. set a password that only you will know. That way, even if someone finds your site, they cant get in.

Then, change your URL to something random, that way anyone who already has your website url wont be able to find it. Finally, uncheck the two boxes below that searchable website and link to profile. Unchecking these, will mean that if anyone searches for you, it wont come up and that your profile wont link anyone to it.

So basically...if you do these things, no one would even be able to find and if they somehow do, they wont be able to get in.

I had thought about doing all of that but i want it completely gone. I don't want it looming over my head every tyime I come on here reminding me of everything that has happened.

I think you need to contact the WW gods. Otherwise, you could go through all of the pages and delete them individually. But I think the front page would still exist.

I'm lost. Are you engaged and in the middle of divorce at the same time?

I would e-mail the wedding wire Gods at support@weddingwire.com and ask them how it can be done.

Oh! Sorry. I totally understand now.

Unfortunately the best way to remover your site is to delete your profile. WW gives us sites automatically, it's nothing we chose. So how about deleting your current profile then come back with a new profile?

Amaldo.....I didn't ask for your advice on how to repair a marriage that's beyond repair. I asked how I could delete the website.

I don't need your opinion on whether or not I should go to marriage counseling. Unless you can stay on topic, don't post on my thread again or I will report you. Smiley smile

Hey, so fyi...I just went to check out my site and see what i actually showed up. (i made a different Wedding website to use on a nother profile so there was no chance of someone tracing me back to this profile where I post on the forums). I forgot, but not only did I do what I mentioned previously, but I had gone through and literally deleted every page off my site under the edit portion. WHen I went to preview my site, it told me something along the lines of *this page no longer exists or has been moved to another location*

So Bingo! my site is totally gone!
