Yes or no to a reception dress for destination wedding!

Ashlee, on May 20, 2019 at 4:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

So I am trying to decide if I should have a reception dress. We are getting married in Riviera Maya, Mexico in May. Our wedding ceremony is at 5 pm. My photographer is suggesting that I have a reception dress because he feels like I will be sweating after taking pics after the ceremony. Our reception is going to be in a ballroom at the resort. I love my dress and didn't imagine switching to a different one but I also don't want to feel uncomfortable during the reception. Any suggestions?

** I forgot to mention that my wedding ceremony is on the beach**

Keep the dress on! If it's indoors I don't see the issue.

I forgot to mention that my wedding ceremony will be on the beach. Do you still think I will be fine?

I got married on the beach and had an outdoor reception and was totally fine in my dress. I'm sorry the photographer got you worried.

I think if anything you will feel a little overheated the first fifteen minutes of going into the venue and then it will pass. However, this can happen anywhere! I walk a mile to work and when I start out, I am fine, but by the end, I am sweaty. Once I get settled in at work, I go back to normal (which is always cold).

You’ll be fine. If having a second dress wasn’t something you were already thinking about doing, then no need to do it.

I had a second shorter reception dress for our destination wedding and was so glad I did- my longer dress got heavy! Just another opinion.

Hey Ashlee! Have you decided that you are going to stick with the dress you are wearing for your ceremony? 😊

That's great!! You obviously love it so much, it would be a shame to only wear it for half of your day!
