‘You can wear that bridesmaid dress again’

Michelle, on April 28, 2021 at 2:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 36

People say this all the time. How many have actually worn it again to any event?

I've never worn mine again lol. I think the only time I'd wear it again is if we went to a black-tie wedding/event that called for a floor length gown.

I was straight up with my bridal party and said they'd probably never wear it again, so we wanted to choose one that was relatively cheap based on everyone's budget. (it turned out to be a $99 dress from Birdy Grey)

I know one person who wore a BM dress to another wedding a few months later as a guest. Of all my friends and 30+ weddings i've been to in the last 10 years that is the only one i know of.

Nope. It's definitely something brides say to make themselves feel better about asking people to buy the dress 🤣

I wore one of my bridesmaid dresses to another wedding about a year later. I also turned another bridesmaid dress into a baby quilt for my sister (whose dress I wore in her wedding).

That is a really cute way to repurpose a bridesmaids dress!

All of my girls got their dresses from places like Lulus and ASOS and they picked them out themselves. They're not "bridesmaid dresses", so I feel like they'll definitely wear them again. I've never worn a traditional bridesmaid dress again.

I've never worn any of my bridesmaids dresses again (though they're all still floating around the back of my closet somewhere). I'd like to wear them again, but I'm too afraid to wear them to a wedding out of fear that I'll end up accidentally matching the bridesmaids in the wedding, lol.

Never, not once! I actually just sell mine on Poshmark after to try to get some of my money back. I did have a friend who wore a bridesmaid dress to another wedding once. Other than that, nope!

Lol! Rarely! I've worn one (which looked a little more like an evening gown) to a costume party. And I asked my bridesmaids to buy non-BM dresses (with a few specifications) so that they could wear them again to any cocktail-attire affair. Other than that, I think I've seen a few people wear bridesmaid dresses to other weddings - certainly a rare occurrence!

I re-wore my bridesmaids dress from my brother's wedding a few years later to our cousin's wedding, but it also wasn't a traditional bridesmaids dress (black knee-length with lace overlay). I ended up donating it when purging my closet last year, though.

Most people don't but I did. I wore my bridesmaids dress from my FSIL's wedding to go on a date with my FH. It is a lacy purple high-low dress so it is easy to dress up or down.

I didn't get to attend a wedding that I was supposed to be in in another state because of covid so I wore it to do chores and lift weights and stuff and took photos to make the bride laugh. Does that count? Lol

I've actually worn quite a few bridesmaid dresses again (as a guest at other weddings), but that's because I get invited to a lot of black tie weddings where I need to wear long fancy dresses. But if black tie weddings weren't a norm in my family and social circle, then I can definitely see not ever wearing them again. I've also only tended to wear the darker colored dresses again--black, navy, etc. The lighter colored dresses I've never worn again

Several. but many were as MOH and different deliberately, an evening gown that went with them, and no5 what was marketed for a group. Also a couple with 1 BM one MOH, that were MOB dresses from nice designers.
Most BM dresses have loosely structured bodies free of support I always need. In too shear material. And lots of nude illusion lace, who ever wears nude illusion lace,?
    Color mustard , limon?

I haven't yet! but i definitely think i can wear mine again!

my bff is going to a formal wedding later this year and she said she's thinking of using her MOH dress from my wedding for it.

this is also why i let my bridesmaids choose whatever they wanted! because i felt like it would increase the likelihood of them wearing it again. i was relieved when my bff let us choose our own dresses since i chose an inexpensive dress i am pretty sure i will wear again.

This issue is why I love the newer trend of letting bridesmaids choose their own dresses. Being able to pick something that you feel is personally flattering goes a long way towards possibly wearing it again. Of course, there's still a lot of undeniably bridesmaid-y looking dresses sold at the usual suspect stores, but that's a separate topic.

I can't imagine ever being a bridesmaid again (twice was enough), but if I were, I sincerely hope that hypothetical bride will be considerate.

I’ve worn all my bridesmaid dresses again (3)
One was a knee length plain black dress. That became my go to funeral dress until I gained too much weight. I wore it 2-3 times.
Another was a different style black knee length dress dress that wore to my SIL wedding. And the last one was a bright pink (watermelon from David’s Bridal) and I wore it on a cruise one of nights to dinner. I doubt they’ll get worn again, but I chose simple long navy dresses that could easily be worn again to a fancier occasion. As a matter of fact I want to ask my sister for her dress because I want to wear it!
