I apologize if anyone thought I was being rude or calling them old. I was just looking for people around my age to comment to see what they were feeling and what not. Thank you to all the people who did comment and were helpful!

I'm 21 & he is 27... I agree people have a bad mark sometimes on people getting married "young". I cannot wait! We have a bit over a month left and I am working on the last few things which are music lists for the DJ, seating chart, DIY crafts, tags for the favors, & packaging the favors!

I was just late night lurking, and I got some decent entertainment out of it! Though I didn't understand half of what was being said.

My fiancé and I just turned 21 few months ago. We have been together since high school. Everyone gives us support. Some people ask why so young but most are happy we have things figured out. I do agree since we both are in college not a ton of people to relate to but can't wait!! Graduation this year married after that. Most of my personal friends are actually married or have kids. That whole brain development thing just depends who you are not everyone is "young and dumb"

You must have some kind of mouth, girl!

I'm only on page 12, but I'mma just say here and now....if my FH didn't want to (not couldn't, but **wouldn't**) financially support OUR child, I'd be seriously disturbed. That's not a MATURE man's instinct at all. Shoot! Some men don't even like the thought of their wife needing to take up a second job to help them get through an extra tight year....because that's the male ego--to take care of their spouse and family! And when they see that they could use the help they balk at it cause it stings that male pride.

To be honest, Kasandra, your FH sounds like the 20 year old who sits on the couch and plays video games all day and knows nothing about responsibility.

The bills take up BOTH of your paychecks. Where does your FH's paycheck go? What does he even do??

Oh geeze, this thread makes me not want to say my age lol. I always find it funny that people encourage you to live your life the way you want to, go in to debt thousands of dollars with students loans and party. But God forbid someone under the age of 24 wants to get married and all of a sudden it affects their life, lol. While I do agree that some people (like Kassandra) are definitely not ready for marriage, some people mature faster than others. FH and I have been together for 2 years and have been through lots together; the biggest one is his mom dying.

For me, as long as you're seeking counseling, are financially stable, and are well aware of the life changes and risks you are making, go for it. It's your life and it doesn't affect anyone else's but you and your SO. I hope planning is going well for you!! I know it is for me Smiley smile

Back then I was so excited and it almost felt like an accomplishment getting married first but what a mess !! I am now 29 and have the man of my dreams! Also able to afford a wedding and honeymoon... good luck

I haven't gotten any rude or negative comments in real life... everyone is super excited for my FH & I. but on here.. I have seen a lot of negative comments. Which is ridiculous...

ETA: I also think 18 is way to young to be married, I think you should at least be able to drink at your own wedding before you get married... but to each his own.

hahah I realize this discussion is a year old but hey. I am a bride to be at 18 and we have received a lot of negativity but We are okay with it. Wedding planning is certainly interesting and to all the negative comments we have got is well. I would rather start my adulthood with my best friend by my side and not going around partying and college I do not need to date a thousand people to find the one when I have already found the one. It is really all a fun experience.

Everything has been great! I'm marrying my high school sweetheart, we have been together since we were 16 and we recently just turned 25. Nothing but pure bliss and positivity from family!

I know it’s definitely young and people may not approve God is definitely leading us down this path and marriage counseling really is a good start.

I'm 18 and it's gone really well. We've been together since we were 14 and everyone has been very supportive. ❤
