I apologize if anyone thought I was being rude or calling them old. I was just looking for people around my age to comment to see what they were feeling and what not. Thank you to all the people who did comment and were helpful!

FH and myself are both 23 and the wedding is a month before we will both be 24. We technically got engaged in December but since we had the ring custom made and it took a while, we were planning the wedding (booked the venue, bought my dress, etc.) for a few months before that. We have been together for 8.5 years currently and are both pretty stable. What I mean by that is that we are out of school, have lived on our own for a while and now are living together, we both have stable jobs, and we both have goals and plans for the future. I don't know that I would've minded waiting longer per say, but FH is starting med school right after the wedding and I probably would've gone crazy trying to plan a wedding during that time.

Planning is going well, we're pretty much down to the details now since our venue is pretty much all inclusive (thank god) and took care of a lot of leg work. As for reactions, strangers give me a bit of a surprised look sometimes or a negative comment about not knowing what I want and the like, but family has been totally supportive. My parents were high school sweethearts and married at 21 and his parents didn't meet/get married until they were past 30, so we have both sides of coin I guess. I know plenty of people my age that should absolutely not get married right now or anytime soon, but I guess it depends on the person. Hope your planning goes smoothly and congrats!

I am 20 and been engaged since I was 18, the were of my 19th birthday. Planning g has been great so far however, now that we are just over a year away I feel like alot is being thrown my way at once so I'm trying g to take it a little slower so I dont get overwhelmed. I have received negative comments before on ww but no where else but oh well I guess... Keep g my head up and working my butt off lol congrats!!

I am marrying the same man I was with at 18 and I am 27 now. Had I married him at 18 or even 21 we would not have stayed married. I have nothing against high school sweetheart's getting married but I wish more people would think it through. I have known one young couple to make it work. So yes, getting married young CAN work out but that is so few and far between that for the most part I would recommend waiting a few years to everyone. I also wouldn't recommend marrying the same person you were with in high school but that would make me a hypocrit.

I do want to point out we went through a lot in our early 20s, and dated other people, had separate experiences, and THEN came back together organically.

I got engaged at 25. Married at 26. DH was 32. Now I'm 28, and he's 32! Old. As. Hell.

We waited until we were financially stable and had careers before tying the knot. We even built a home before because we wanted to 100% know we were ready for marriage.

I could not imagine getting married before 24. At least. I would 100% be divorced by now if I would've married any of me ex's....

@Lauren- It's more than personality that can change, a person's values can change before the age of 25. I find your statement on divorce to be rather naïve and overly simplistic. Reasons for divorce go a lot deeper than that, and I personally believe that totally removing divorce from the table, even if everyone involved is totally unhappy, is naïve and a potentially dangerous mentality. Nobody gets married planning on getting divorced.
