*Update*

I apologize if anyone thought I was being rude or calling them old. I was just looking for people around my age to comment to see what they were feeling and what not. Thank you to all the people who did comment and were helpful!

I'm 22 and he's 21 but we've dated for 5 years! We haven't received any negative feedback to our engagement at all! I think as long as you've dated a good amount of time and both mature enough for marriage, you're just dandy!

    Kasandra-

By that logic, if YOU really want to get married, YOU should pay for it.

Also aren't you already getting 5 grand from family?

If parents want them to marry they should help out?! How about if you, as an adult, want to get married you figure out the finances yourself. If someone OFFERS to help, great. But if not, you're on your own.

Your opinion is very immature. Adults should pay for their own parties. You are marrying DH, not the parents.

ETA: If that's how your parents act, I don't blame your mentality on you but them.

If you can't afford a wedding, wait until I tell you how much kids cost.

I'm 23 will be 24 when FH and I get married. Tons of love and support from everyone so far, not anticipating any negativity. I'm still young but definitely feel ready to be married. Would have never felt this way at 18, 19 or even 20 or 21 though.

Fiddlin- the rude was probably directed at me since I told her whining about us being rude first is not a sign of being mature enough to get married.

Yeesh. w Kasandra, you definitely aren't ready to get married if it'll take you 20 years to be able to pay for a wedding with no help.

Kasandra, then cut back on expenses and get second jobs. Be an adult. Cut the umbilical cord. If you still wanted to talk about this, you probably shouldn't have hidden your thread about this.

Telling us not to comment is not allowed Kasandra. You are not helping your case in the least.

Kasandra, if starting his business is more important to him than marriage....you shouldn't be planning a wedding.

You have to have kids at age 25? What?

Lots of people here have fertility issues.
