Your Most Ridiculous Wedding Idea

Riki, on October 11, 2013 at 10:12 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 98

We've all had them...

$300 Bridesmaids Shoes, live animals as guest favors, acrobats hanging from the ceiling, nude interpretitive dances (straight off of David Tutera), DIY centerpieces made of some rare flower only grown by Himalayan Monks in June when your wedding is actually in November...

What was your most RIDICULOUS wedding idea that made you have to sit back and say, "ok, now things are getting out of hand"...

Folks are sounding stressed and I think all of us crazy brides could stand to sit back and laugh at ourselves sometimes...

BTW: I'm the $300 Bridesmaids Shoes...haha! I still kind of think it's a good idea, but I have found a more reasonably priced alternative at Nine West...

I wanted the DJ to have confetti shooting cannons that would burst at particular points in songs and when we made our grand entrance.

I was so blankety-blank-blank tired of family members fighting over WHERE the Wedding should be, that I originally booked a location near NOBODY in my family (including me!), so they'd just shut up.

Thank goodness I got the deposit back.

I originally wanted a designer dress. Then I priced the one I wanted...20K.

Let's just say when I lost my job 2 months after being engaged, I got a quick reality check. Found a gown similar to the sytle of it for less than $300. Needless to say, it was a blessing in digsuise.

I had grand ideas of the top of the Philadelphia skyline ... I think that would have cost like a million dollars.

When I lived in Chicago I decided I wanted to get married at Cafe Brauer, just like 99% of everyone who lived in Chicago. See above million-dollar problem. Ahhh so naive and ridiculous ....

Riki, I remember those leopard print shoes and clutches. They were HAWT though!!!

I wanted to have centerpieces with gold fish swimming around in them. Um, yeah...didn't happen.

I priced fireworks at one point, because, if it wasn't insanely expensive, we all know it would have been awesome to have our own personal wedding fireworks display.

Haha, Riki I remember those shoes you wanted!! I think my most ridiculous wedding idea was the DIY list I had after I'd been engaged about a month. My bridesmaids, my mom, and I were going to complete a different decor project EACH weekend! It's been a year and we haven't done anything. And that's ok Smiley smile

Trying to do a DIY wedding - normally no biggie except I live 2700 miles away from my venue.

Needless to say we are paying people to do 99% of the stuff now!

I really want Louboutins as my wedding heels.

FH is still telling me no. I'm going to continue trying, until it finally sinks in that I'm not getting them.

I also always wanted fireworks. Prices and location gave me a reality check. That won't be happening...

Wanting to have my wedding at the Ringling Ca d'Zan. Would have been beautiful, but kinda hard to pull off without a $100K budget...

Some of these make me giggle so bad. I wish I had a good one to share but my small budget kept my ass in check! Lol.

Haha I also forgot that at one point I wandered how much it would cost to have Pitbull come and perform at the reception. I never looked into it, but I still kinda think it would be awesome lol

    ETA: terrible spelling/grammar

Same as Hillery with the Louboutins. When I first started planning I was set on having a pair of Croisette Orlato Louboutins that cost $695. At first Hubby went along with it because I guess he didn't think I was serious. When I talked about ordering them, he nixed it and when I told my aunt (who is like my second mother), she said I was crazy for just one day. I snapped back to reality.

And another out there idea was having our new rings custom made with his birthstone (sapphire) and my birthstone (opal). At first it sounded great to both of us until we started getting some quotes. Ended up getting rings (non custom) at Jared's.

Lol Nay, I'm hoping I hit the jackpot at the casino so I can get mine! So far, I think it's the only way I'm going to get them.
