Your Most Ridiculous Wedding Idea

We've all had them... $300 Bridesmaids Shoes, live animals as guest favors, acrobats hanging from the ceiling, nude interpretitive dances (straight off of David Tutera), DIY centerpieces made of some rare flower only grown by Himalayan Monks in June when your wedding is actually in November... What...

$300 Bridesmaids Shoes, live animals as guest favors, acrobats hanging from the ceiling, nude interpretitive dances (straight off of David Tutera), DIY centerpieces made of some rare flower only grown by Himalayan Monks in June when your wedding is actually in November...

What was your most RIDICULOUS wedding idea that made you have to sit back and say, "ok, now things are getting out of hand"...

Folks are sounding stressed and I think all of us crazy brides could stand to sit back and laugh at ourselves sometimes...

BTW: I'm the $300 Bridesmaids Shoes...haha! I still kind of think it's a good idea, but I have found a more reasonably priced alternative at Nine West...

What kind of firework show did yall look up, exactly? When FH and I priced ours, we can do a 3 minute show for $800. Which is all we really want. Just a quick photo opportunity and something to give our guest a nice "wow"

We saved A LOT on our venue by having it in November, though. It's the only reason we can do it.

There was an option to do our names and wedding date in fireworks, along longer shows but those did get up in the high thousands!

Fireworks.... the first venue we looked at charged $3K for them, the place we actually booked doesn't allow them but I was thinking of ways to sneak them in on the property or maybe even setting them off at the high school behind my venue.... I was going to do them NO MATTER what.... I then decided that I did not want to get kicked out of my venue OR arrested on my wedding night so I said to hell with that idea (unless I get married 7/4/15, which i am NOT) lol

    these are too funny!

FH wanted to invite the Youtube star Sergio the Sexy Sax Man to crash the reception.

Turns out he does it for money. -____-"

Mine would have to be having a wedding instead of eloping somewhere!

At first I thought we could have all of fh's family. That probably would have been over 200 people, he comes from a large family, and the budget....less than $2800. Yes you counted the zeros correctly.

That thought lasted all of about 10 minutes. I did my first Google search on venues and duh no way.

My reality, bed and breakfast with immediate family and 2 couples we know. 16 people overnight with an all inclusive package and the entire inn to ourselves. They are also doing dinner.

The decision I made about 10 months ago to have the wedding 1800 miles away in my hometown. sure it was doable, but after saying for about the 15th time 'if only _____ would be so close and available like it is HERE,' I realized that I'd rather have the wedding here where I live and let those back home watch it via broadcast! Smiley smile

now that the wedding will now be about a year away, giving folks more time- there are relatives and friends from back home hoping to make the trip here for a vacation. Smiley smile so it's all working out.

The best man picked the day after our wedding for his wedding and for a second I though "maybe we could have a double wedding". I almost punched myself!

AndreaLily: I loved the photo to go with your first post!

I think my most ridiculous was trying to go all out and have an Atlantic City wedding. After looking at the price tag for all I wanted, I got a quick reality check, and I decided to go back to the drawing board. I'm glad I did, because now we are having a wedding that, while it's still going to be elegant and classy, is more fitting to FH and myself, as well as ours and my dad's bank accounts.

Still deciding if it's too tacky to use my trumpet as my bouquet holder, with the flowers coming out of the bell...

I had to think wayyyyyy back to the VERY begining stages of our wedding planning, but FH proposed to me in Disneyland and afterwards I said "Let's get married in exactly on year in Disneyworld!!". Then we looked at prices. And said let's just get married in Scottsdale haha!

FH wants to wear shorts for the wedding... and I'm OK with it LOL

I also wanted to elope or get married on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship but being catholic kind of threw that idea out the window. We asked our priest, but he knew the bishop would say no!

I feel like I got everything I wanted for my wedding!

But I did see in a magazine once this couple that rented a ferris wheel. That seems cool but was 1,000s of dollars! Also, we priced fireworks. In our area, a pro-show ran about 5,000 for 5 minutes. No thanks.

300 guests, a $10k dress, still looking into fireworks thru connections, a white goth wedding theme, manolos, 3 dresses, an exclusive after party at a local club AFTER the reception, a tahiti honeymoon RIGHT after the wedding night, destination wedding with 100 people in tahiti or mexico or canada snow-capped mnts, oh yeah the list went on and on....

oh yeah I was crazy as hell, till I checked my bank balance -.-

I wanted (still do) to get married in Thailand. My dad's family is from Thailand, we could have done it but FH said none of his family would have been able to afford to go. I didn't see the problem with that Smiley winking

I'm not sure I have had any crazy ideas...We originally wanted a theme that we could have pulled off if I had was willing to dish out another few grand, but I couldn't pull myself to do so.
