Your Most Ridiculous Wedding Idea

We've all had them... $300 Bridesmaids Shoes, live animals as guest favors, acrobats hanging from the ceiling, nude interpretitive dances (straight off of David Tutera), DIY centerpieces made of some rare flower only grown by Himalayan Monks in June when your wedding is actually in November... What...

What was your most RIDICULOUS wedding idea that made you have to sit back and say, "ok, now things are getting out of hand"...

Folks are sounding stressed and I think all of us crazy brides could stand to sit back and laugh at ourselves sometimes...

BTW: I'm the $300 Bridesmaids Shoes...haha! I still kind of think it's a good idea, but I have found a more reasonably priced alternative at Nine West...

I went to a wedding at a venue is Jacksonville, where FH is from and fell so in love with the place. I wanted to have our wedding there really badly but I the place still wasn't in my price range even with a guest list of 25 people.

DH wanted a raw bar with a server opening the oysters (or was it clams?) for everyone. That was a budget-breaker.

For fireworks, figure $1,000 per minute.

When we were still planning on having our wedding inside Disneyland (before we gave up on the whole date approval process) fh and i were seriously talking about purchasing a private viewing of world of color or fantasmic for our guests. I think he was even more serious about it than i was haha.

The idea wasn't mine, it was FH's. He wants to get married at the Vatican, by the Pope. Keep in mind, neither of us are Catholic. I'm not very religious at all. I don't see it happening, Lol.

We also talked about getting married in Scotland, at a castle overlooking a cliff, but there were too many people we both absolutely want at our wedding, and we can't afford to pay airfare and lodging for everyone.

Ahaha, Molly. I loled at the Pope idea!

I wanted to have a quick and simple ceremony. when I said that, my FH looked at me like he actually did not understand the words coming out of my mouth.

we're getting married in a Catholic church. goodbye, short ceremony!

But was it unreasonable to want George Takei to show up and dance at our wedding?

ETA: We even invited his husband!

We also tried to talk the local science fiction convention that was the next weekend to inviting him as a guest so he would have a reason to be in town!

I wanted to have our reception in the party room of the South end zone (aka The Zone) at our football stadium. $3k JUST to rent the place. I was going to have to find an independent caterer, bartender, etc. And, I was going to either have to set it up or break it down (cant remember which) myself. Finally, a coworker did book it and they bumped her three weeks before her wedding...the contract allows them to cancel on you up to 24 hours in advance! Glad I went a different route!!!

When I first got engaged, I decided to have an untraditional wedding because my parents had died and therefore didn't have anyone to really have a celebration - I say it that way because my FH and I are low-key and not formal people AT ALL. So I was going to wear a pretty, colorful dress and just do a quickie ceremony so that everyone could eat faster and get the band started. Then a month ago, I changed my mind. I do want a white dress and veil - so I'm shopping for one now!

FH is the crazy one. There was the plan to put live goldfish in the centrepiece vases (what will we do with them at the end of the night?). Then there was the barn owl delivering the rings (no....just no). Oh, and he suggested I arrive in a horse and carriage. Um, we're getting married in a stately home and I'll be getting ready in the bridal suite upstairs, So, we'd pay a thousand pounds or so to hire the carriage for me to take a few turns around the driveway while all our guests are sitting inside? Luckily there is a safari park on the estate so they have a ban on fireworks written into the contract, otherwise I'm sure he'd be looking into them too.

My most ridiculous one is actually coming true. My FH and I are getting legally married in L.A, where we live, before having our ceremony in NM (where he is from). Due to legalities of same sex weddings, we justo ant to make sure it's legal, and NM is up in the air.

I work in politics, and the mayor of L.A.agreed to do our legal ceremony. I jokingly tweeted that since we are having a formal wedding maybe our real ceremony should just be us in hockey jerseys and Bailey, the l.a. Kings mascot as my best man,

Turns out e king's mascot does it for $250 donation to the King's charity. So... Married by the Mayor with a furry lion in a crown and a hockey jersey as my best man...

We started wanting Ponce City Market rooftop over Atlanta and renting the carnival and mini golf for when they turn over the room. Needless to say she said min ~65k wedding! Nope.

We also checked into face painters for the kids. Bad idea with wedding dress hugs!

Im sure there will be more. Great topic! I need to keep myself in check! 😂
