Did anyone find out before your honey asked you ? Did you have to put on your best theatrical performance and "act" surprised ?? lol

I knew. He took his best friend (best man), my sister (MOH), and a friend of mine (BM) with him to look at engagement rings. I wasn't allowed to know ANYTHING about the ring. But he took me with him to pick it up when it finally came in. He made me wait in the car while he ran in to get it. Then when he got back in, he put it in the center counsel of the car & didn't say a thing. He asked when we got a few miles away at a red light on our way to dinner (Denny's .... real classy). <3 But honestly, it fit us perfectly. Asking me to be his girlfriend was even better. On the phone "uhhh since we're going to prom together, wanna date?" ... and somehow that worked Smiley laugh

It was a complete surprise. MyLo wanted to have a moment of peace and quiet. The TV was off soft music in the background. We were cuddling and just enjoying the quiet when he got on one knee and proposed. I was speechless for a few moments, then I realized what was going on and said yes. When he presented the ring, I was completed floored! He did a great job!

My poor FH...I kept ruining all of his plans because I had no idea what he was doing! Our 4 year anniversary was 7/3/12. My cousin was having a 'redneck' picnic 3 hours from our house on the 4th and I finally got FH to agree to go. He was thinking it would just be a day trip leave early on the 4th come back late on the 4th. I didn't like that plan and basically forced us to leave the night of the third. Unbeknownst to me he had planned to take me to the local fireworks show and propose then. Once I convinced him to go to Augusta to my cousins I told him we would go to the Ft. Gordon fireworks show on the 3rd. Well we didnt end up leaving on time and got to Augusta around 9pm (my cousin and all of his friends were already drunk so then didn't want to go to the fireworks). Plan number 2 ruined! So I had asked him that morning where my anniversary gift was, first time he brushed it off and said you'll get it later. Then when plans fell through at my cousins that night I asked...

...Again and he claimed he forgot it at home. So his follow up plan after I ruined plan 2 was to get me to leave early and make it to Atlanta to the centenial park fireworks. Of course I wouldnt allow us to leave early because I felt rude! We hadn't even eaten yet! Finally got everyone to eat around 7pm and we bounced shortly after. We make it to ATL aroun 10pm and the finally was going off. Ruined plan 3. We get home, sweaty gross still in our redneck outfits and I ask for my anniversary gift while filling my water bottle. He walks over and pulls out the ring "I had so many plans and nothing worked, I'm sorry it's not a romantic proposal but I am sick of trying to make it perfect, will you marry me.'

I knew it was coming...sometime. We both want kids and I'm not young (not afraid to say that I am 37) so we knew we couldn't wait too much longer. I just didn't know it was coming on the date that it did (my 37th birthday)

I knew he was going to propose just not when, he got the ring and told me that he had the date and time picked out and that I would know when he proposed. I thought he was going to do it on Valentines Day, but that came and went so I figured that I would just let him do it when he was ready. My birthday is on March 10th and we went to my mom's for a party while opening gifts he asked me to open his gift last which turned out to be a planner (which I needed for school) and on the date of my birthday there was written "Darrell Proposed" and when I turned and looked at him he asked me to marrry him in front of my whole family. I said yes after a minute of crying.

Similar to a lot of ladies it was a little bit of both (surprised and not surprised).

We talked about it- I told him I didn't want to move in with him until we got engaged and we had been looking at houses. I also told him I wanted him to surprise me and he's not very good at keeping secrets.

He told me he needed to go to his Grandpa's house to cut trees one day, and I happened to notice that for the same day his mom put on her calendar "NYC" (His mom puts EVERYTHING on the calendar). I knew he was going to buy the ring in NY at a family jeweler so I guessed that was what he was doing but I wasn't sure. Even if he did go I wasn't sure if he bought anything.

We planned an extended weekend vacation on the Cape and we started walking along the beach watching the sunset and he got unusually quiet. I kept poking him and he kept smiling- he handed a camera to a nearby couple and asked them to take our picture at which point I became VERY suspicious because he hates pictures (contd)

He started shaking after we took one normal picture- and then he got down on his knee and popped the ring out. I was so distracted by the box that I grabbed it out myself and don't remember a lot after that haha!

I knew he had been saving up for a ring. We had also been talking about what kind of ring he wanted and he didn't want just the traditional band. He really wanted a ruby in his ring. We heard about a lose gem event at a jewelry store so we decided to check it out and get ideas. We ended up finding the perfect ring it was white gold with black diamonds and a regular diamond in the middle. Then we found out if they could remove the diamond and put one of the loose rubies in its place. When I got the quote with the ring and the changes I just couldn't pass it up, so I bought it telling him not to wait too long to get mine. So he went and picked mine out too. It was a spur of the moment surprise for both of us. Then we decided to go to dinner to celebrate. Originally, he wanted to buy the ring and put it in a cracker jack box cuz I always joked that I didn't need something really expensive as long as it was better than a cracker jack ring...lol.

Both- We planned to get married (as I did move across the ocean to be with him). While we were on vacation in the States last year he had asked my Mom for my hand in marriage and then when we were in San Diego we started to look at rings. We ended up designing it and having it made so I knew about the ring but I didn't know when he would propose. I thought he's wait until we were back in Germany sometime. He ended up doing it the Friday night before we were to fly back, it was really sweet and romantic. We went out in the Gaslamp quarter that night with my sister and her DH to celebrate, we had a blast!

We had dated 10 years, and he'd been talking about diamnonds, so I knew something was up. But I did *not* expect that we'd stop at a gas station and he'd say, 'This is my new security badge-- want to see it?' and there was my ring! Totally unromantic (after I'd specifically said 'make it romantic, like there's some doubt what I'd say!'), but totally *him*.
