Zipper to corset. Any regrets?

Kimberly, on July 13, 2016 at 2:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

So I ordered my dress last April. Then I started working at a preschool, ate the school lunches, and gained close to 10 pounds. I've been going between 135 and 140 the last few months and when I tried my dress on this weekend, it was obviously tighter then when I first got it. I have my first real alterations appointment in 2 weeks and was thinking about asking for my zipper to be changed to a corset, to add some wiggle room if I do gain or lose any in the next few months. Did anyone change their dress to a corset and regret it. Or love it?

My dress is in alterations right now getting the same thing done!! I'm confident that it will add so much to the dress and I'm super excited about it!! When it's finished (about a month) I'll post pics :-)

I had a corset dress (no zipper at all) and I absolutely loved it! The lacing really helped the dress fit like a glove.

When I bought my dress I only wanted a zipper. Corset was not an option for me. The month of my wedding I had a stomach bug mixed with nerves and I lost a ton of weight. My final fitting was 2 weeks before the wedding, during those 2 weeks I lost 5 more pounds. My dress was strapless so it needed to be the absolute perfect fit to stay up. I was definitely pulling my dress up throughout the wedding =/ Do the corset!

I am so happy I went with a corset dress. It gives me better shape than I think a zipper would and I won't have to pay for more alterations if I lose/gain (unless it's drastic).

My dress came with a corset back and I am so happy that I got it. You can tighten and loosen it throughout the day.

My dress is currently being altered from a zipper to a corset. I wanted the wiggle room and I fell in love with a corset back dress in a shop that was going out of business and didn't get it when I first saw it and when I went back to get it a few days later it had been sold.

I did, and I love it. It was one alteration I would have had regardless of what the dress was though, so I had intended to go that direction either way. I'm larger chested and want to be able to make sure the right parts of the dress are tight enough to stay up and in place all night without me pulling it up all night.

I changed my dress to a corset because I gained 15 pounds. I'm a stress eater and I've been definitely stressed! Anyways I always liked dresses with a corset because I like the shape it gives me. My alteration cost $150 to change from zipper to corset.

I love my corset back. I feel like it gives the dress a little extra something.

Oh man I wish I had known this was an option! Maybe I'll ask my tailor if it's too late to do...
