Zoom vs. Eventlive?

Annie, on September 2, 2020 at 12:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
We’re getting married in Our backyard on 10/24/2020. I’m going to send invites to stream our ceremony through paperless post. Has anyone had or participated in zoom or eventlive weddings? What are the pros and cons of each?

I used EventLive for my best friend’s wedding and it was awesome! No streaming issues whatsoever, which I would worry about on Zoom because everyone is using it now. Plus, the file was saved in online version and it also saved on my boyfriend’s phone. My cousin used Zoom for her wedding and it was awful...though part of the problem was the person running the camera I think, lol!

Thanks Stephanie! What was the eventlive wedding like? I mean, did they do ceremony only or include the zoom quests in way post ceremony? Trying to figure out what to do. We will have 30 in person guests (mostly family) and 30ish friends/folks who would have travel streaming.

My SIL used Zoom, and it worked out well. She did the ceremony. You can record on Zoom as well if you want to. If it's 40 minutes or under, it's free even without a corporate account.

It was just like watching it on TV I think! I’m not sure what you mean by “zoom quests.” I think we told them how long we wanted to record and paid based on that? I can’t remember but I know it was all on the website. It was very easy to use. And we just had a link that we sent out and I think posted on the wedding website (the website required a password to enter).

We used eventlive and it was so easy! You pay $50 and get a link to send to anyone you want to watch. You can set it up and click play ahead of time and then forget about it. My brother manned the camera so I didn't have to worry. All the guests liked it and thought it was easy, especially the older family members.

We just watched DH's cousin get married over Zoom.

It was lovely, though it was an outdoor ceremony without mics (if you are going to be outside, please do a sound check).

It was great to see family, watch the ceremony... and then go back to bed! (It was an early elopement.)

Oops. I meant guests. Haha. Did they include zoom guests in a way, post ceremony?

I looked on the website and it appears you can stream all night if you want! You can even stop streaming and start again a bit later. See below

Just curious what you ended up choosing - I'm between these two right now!

I found this thread because I was looking for advice to help us choose between Youtube private channel live streaming, and EventLive.

Also curious on which one you ended up choosing, and how it worked out? Smiley smile

It seems like EventLive is better if you really want to broadcast all the special moments, turning on/off between ceremony, speeches/toasts, special dancing etc. Maybe even in lieu of a videographer?

We hired a videographer for capturing all the key parts, but still want to include the virtual audience in our ceremony, so we're leaning towards a private Youtube livestream... It's free (vs EventLive at $50 for more than 5 viewers).
